    Tests for replacement consmer unit

@Specialist I'll play triangle? Pretty please? What have you done for the police to come round? Be honest now, did you install a cu without testing first? :D

The problem with pendants is ikea make lampshades...;)

I took that to mean testing had already been done previously.

Recess led light in limited space

Personally I'm not a fan of cool white. Unless it's a kitchen/utility/gym room. Blue spectrum wakes the brain up, so for bedrooms it's terrible, and lounge too as most people spend time in their lounge before going to bed. The worst is bathrooms, you go into a very bright room, often cool...

    Tests for replacement consmer unit

I assumed testing before, I think the op meant: testing first, cu swap, after cu swap was a full test necessary. But always test first.

Recess led light in limited space

Problem is they're only the 500lm version, no 700lm version, warmest is 2900k, the rest of the h2 range have a 2700k version, they're expensive, and their beam angle is reduced by the recess so you need more fittings for the same lux. On the plus side they look amazing. If I did my house I'll...

    Tests for replacement consmer unit

I'd retest ze, ring continuity, zs for each circuit and obviously any new rcds. If you feel you have to retest insulation then something has gone very wrong with the new install. That being said, if someone else had done the eicr I'd do a full retest. Some EICR's are tested using eyeballs and...

just live & S/L conductors in a metal enclosure ?

@hightower is correct. As long as it is earthed and the l and sl go through the same entry it will be fine.

Recess led light in limited space

Yeah there is a plaster in version where there is no bezel at all, the light looks like it comes straight out of the plaster! Deeper fitting though, and way more expensive! The collingwoods all dim very well, and collingwood don't seem to lie about the fittings lumen output or circuit watts like...

Recess led light in limited space

Collingwood halers h2 fittings are great, only 53mm deep, but I assume 60mm to allow a bit of tolerance. The heatsinks are not at the very top of the fitting so with 60mm you have at least 15mm air gap from the hot parts. I use these almost exclusively, I think theyre a great fitting.

    Electric Vehicle Chargers

They're easy to install, a few regs to apply that aren't your normal run of the mill install. There's also a form to send to the DNO informing them that there's a ev charger installed. Some are heavy load, but the best ones you can set it to charge on a timer, ideally the middle of the night.

This can't be right!? Wireing under sub-floor

There must have been another route. Or wireless interlink is acceptable to lbc and regs. Find out who is their governing body and complain to them if you don't get anywhere from going direct to the electrician/builder.

    New build timber framed problem

I love architects. They're so deluded. The rewire I'm doing at the moment has no measurements or consideration for routing pipes/cables. I once had a fire alarm call point marked in the middle of a doorway! It even showed which way the door handed, I was so tempted to drop a 20mm steel in the...

C&G 2919-01 Electric Vehicle Charging Course

I bought the book from the iet a few years ago, I don't think the course existed then, but it gives you all the info you need. I think it cost 60 or 70 quid. I've installed a few for volvo and hyundai dealerships but there doesn't seem to be much money in it. Some companies who sell the...

No madam I cannot move your service head

My generation is the arrogant idiot. I've watched how to do it on YouTube, looked easy enough, now I'm an expert too.

No madam I cannot move your service head

Ah the good old general public. They know the cost of everything, but the value of nothing. If they don't like your price, or admit theyre getting someone to move it anyway just say "thanks for opportunity, and by the way, I have a friend who's a vet, but he's doing dental work for a cut price...
