Came across a white backbox with plastic clipped out to let the 2.5 twin and earth enter from above. The small gap was not filled ( I usually fill it with silicone) . Dawned on me that I’ve never seen A recommendation on what silicone type to use or is there a better way?
If you can install in a detached garage, then you can use the house earthing system (PME). Wishful thinking ! Can you install it inside the garage and run charging cable through the wall or can you install it on the outside wall of the garage?
These cases were documented but they didn’t say whether they were inspected.

Thanks for replies. I thought that if the rod is at ground level then the voltage could be as high as 25 volts 2.5-3 metres from the rod ( a danger to animals ) etc. I thought that it needed to be in a pit with inspection cover.
And I agree that buried was not a good choice of wording. (...
I read a couple of references to ground rods and both stated that they must be buried in the ground but one said 3 inches visible and the other said less than 12 inches visible.
I thought they had to be fully buried and even covered .

Yes I’ve got socket tester reporting L and N reversed and a rcd tripping implying L to E somewhere.The socket is at the last stage of socket - fuse box. - fused spur - main CU.
So now for the approach given the wires are the wrong way around.

I decided to use my socket tester ….. as I couldn’t remember checking the garage (oops).
