I agree, really not a fan of BG boards. The other work this guy carried out in the house wasn’t too great to be honest either...
I would like to rip that thing out and start again, but not very financially viable for my customer that has been well and truly rooked.
Called out to do an EICR after a so called sparks put this CU in and didn’t sign off.
Needless to say, nothing was labelled and yes those are red conductors used to extend CPC’s. The pure laziness baffles me.
Thanks for the comments. I was charging £60 last year for minimum, and also at £30 per hour. So maybe I'll go back to that!
As Andy78 says, some are more than happy to pay. Just think some people are still thinking of prices 20 years ago.
Hi guys, had quite a few people ringing me up recently and asking what my call-out fee is; to which I reply £70 (which covers one hour) plus materials.

Had a job last night upgrading the main earthing conductors to 16mm and replacing a faulty RCCB at clients reuqest (after recommendations from another sparky who carried out an EICR at the shop).
I have replaced RCCB's and RCBO's before an always a bit unsure on what certificate to issue as...
I know there are few out now that look ok, like the nest models, but still smoke/heat/CO detectors are very unslightly. One of the biggest complaints from customers, can rouine the look of a nice kitchen. Usually don't agree with customers but they are right in this case!
Customer wants to put one in for an outbuilding to know what they're using. It arrived today and can't figure out the terminals. There are 2 neutral terminals on the top + im guessing a L supply + L out; but on the bottom there are 2 more terminals marked 20 + and 21 -!
Do I need the bottom...
