If an electrode isn't connected to the MET then what exactly have you connected it to?

So what do we call conductors used to connect to Earth electrodes which are not connected to the main Earth terminal?

There are a number of instances where a part of an installation would be connected to a separate Earth electrode not connected to the Main Earthing terminal.
A recent thread has highlighted one where an EV charging point is installed.

surely all cpc's are earthing conductors.

Protective conductor is the umbrella term to cover CPCs, bonding conductors, earthing conductors etc.

Earthing conductor is strictly the conductor that directly connects an installation to a means of earthing.
