I love wagos but... (and why do I need 20chars?)

I did actually think of this just yesterday, I'll give that a try. You'd think they'd make those ports big enough though wouldn't you.

I love wagos but... (and why do I need 20chars?)

Neither my voltage tester nor MFT probes will fit. Obviously I can't possible take the finger guards off because then they won't be GS38 compliant and I'm not a rule breaker...

I love wagos but... (and why do I need 20chars?)

I can't for the life of me work out how to get my probes into the "test ports". What am I missing?

What's the most unusual thing a customer ever asked you to turn into a lamp?

Perhaps I should change the title to "unusual" to incorporate the cool things as well.

What's the most unusual thing a customer ever asked you to turn into a lamp?

I've just been asked to make two tea tins into table lamps and wondered what weird things you have been asked to convert?

    Bathroom Lights flickering

Actually depending on the method of wiring in the landing and the route of the circuit it could be one of your new lights. Are they looped at the switch or the ceiling rose do you know? Might be worth checking those connections too.

    Bathroom Lights flickering

And you didn't pull them down for decorating which may have caused a loose connection? Certainly sounds like the switch in that case, it's not uncommon for old switches and socket outlets to get the odd wire come loose or pull out.

    Electrician has not supplied Certificate

They seem to be pushing these policies for anything and everything. I'm selling a house at the minute and was asked to take out an indemnity policy in lieu of providing a gas safety and electrical cert. My buyer was asked to take one out for her windows that were fitted 20 years ago because she...

You say you fitted three new lights, does this include the bathroom lights you're having the issue with?

Hi Lee, I was after getting access to the electricians arms if I may? My business is called Leader's in electrical. I mainly work on my own property renovations but do a small amount of domenstic work for customers as and when. Thanks!

Two Lights One Switch Trips Or Blows Every Time

Have you double checked all connections to make sure they are correct and tight?

    Three lights one switch

Not just limited to the connections, although they can often be fiddly. Fitted spots from there not long ago, not cheap but poor fitting (springs not stiff enough to hold in place). I just find it easier to get fittings from a specialist lighting or electrical place to try and avoid problems.

    Three lights one switch

I'd avoid the like of B&Q and Wickes for light fittings, they may seem good value but they are poor quality when compared to what you'll get for the same sort of money at a proper electrical shop. We got 9 spots at edmondsons for a couple of £ each the other day because they were selling them...

    Customer bought funky light...

Yep, plus another 7 for the other light. The worst part was trying to hide the cables in the wall, the back of the light was solid with no void to run the supply out. Nightmare, should've just said it wasn't possible!

    Should I/would you say anything?

Thanks chaps, that has helped a lot. I'll raise the issues with the customer tomorrow. I don't really want to get involved in rectifying the work as a can of worms comes to mind but they will at least have the choice of what to do about it.

    Should I/would you say anything?

Yes you're right, I didn't want to be some tell tale or looking like I was after more work. I didn't go there to do any electrical work but they have asked me to replace 6 wall lights. I've also seen from two of the sockets that weren't fixed back onto the wall (lost the screws) that the sparky...

    Should I/would you say anything?

I'm working at a house and the previous sparky has been a bit of a cowboy - end of cable left in gaffer tape, non MF free junction box to be hidden above new ceiling, spur off of a spur, choc blocks everywhere. Would you say anything or just get on with your work and leave? I don't think they...
