PEN Fault Detection on Whole Install?

Presumably the design intention of it is for supplying multiple chargepoints, though it seems somewhat unrealistic to connect 100A of EV charging capacity to a single phase supply.

    RCBO tripping issues

Yes indeed. It's called an erroneous connections test.

Excluding 4mm circuits on EICR, dodgy certs?

1mm^2 isn't even sold here. It's the norm in England perhaps, but stating "every property" really isn't true.

Surge Protection Device on old installations

I presume that the reasoning is that there are life safety systems present (i.e. the emergency lighting installations). That said I would probably personally consider the classification of the Observation to be rather harsh.

Good Old Delroy, he gets all the best Jobs :)

    What was he over for?

UK Hi am just really curious and want to know why meter installers get more then Ev installers ?

2 EVSE installs every day sounds tedious and extremely hard going. I wouldn't entertain it.

    Diversity and multiple consumer units

The norm is that it goes from the DSO (ESB) fuse to a DSO isolator with a contractor's side, and then to the main overcurrent device. The ESB don't always fit the isolator anymore though, particularly with the smart meter rollout. Not sure why as it creates issues, but perhaps it's partly to do...

    Diversity and multiple consumer units

Yes an MCB is used as the main overcurrent device. However it's not a new concept - used to be done with Neozed switch fuses at the main distribution board, and Diazeds before that.

Light Fixture and Fire Alarm question please

Still have to be hardwired here (obviously with battery backup).

Circuits earthed on metal box/conduit: Does it need a rewire?

I wouldn't strictly agree that that's true, although I suppose individual Area Engineers may have differing interpretations of the requirements. After all everyone takes things up differently.

What’s work and pay like in Belfast?

Perhaps he decided after a few too many renditions of the song ... "I wish I was in Carrickfergus, only for nights in Ballygrant."

What’s work and pay like in Belfast?

Pay will be nothing like what you're used to in Guernsey. I say that having worked in Jersey in the past. To be clear I don't live near Carrickfergus, but I wouldn't expect it to be generally that highly paid. (Perhaps working for the right company you might be lucky.)

Circuits earthed on metal box/conduit: Does it need a rewire?

Yes, agreed. I suspect many aren't aware of the need for a high current test though.

Circuits earthed on metal box/conduit: Does it need a rewire?

In fairness very few electrical contractors would have test equipment to perform high current continuity tests on containment now.

Circuits earthed on metal box/conduit: Does it need a rewire?

The conduit will still need to be Earthed. If the conduit's in bad enough condition it may not be usable.

Sanity check on plan for CU replacement (MCB to RCBO AFDD)

This (i.e. switching all live conductors) will be essential for adding an EVSE installation to this new DB later as stated.

UK Is an SPD required for a loft conversion?

Surge protection needs to be cascaded to be effective. Simply having a Type 3 surge arrester in the equipment may not provide any real-world protection as the magnitude of the surge may simply be too great for it.

UK Is an SPD required for a loft conversion?

No regulatory body is going to force an Electrician to not fit surge protection.

    Wholesaler prices lately.

I'd take a wholesalers every day over the likes of Screwfix. They can't compete with Screwfix for the likes of MK as Screwfix buy such large quanities of it. Doesn't upset me though as MK is pretty much crap these days.
