    Inverter problems why oh why

Is there any drawing or other info about links on the motor? There are too many ways of making a motor run and different speeds to guess.

Yes, I've seen them fitted with a couple of self tappers or tek's and in no timethey start sagging

External connections to a generator on an offroad truck. What cable to use?

Looking at what you've done so far, I get the impression you're hands on and look after the vehicle, i'd be tempted to leave it if it's not exposed to the sun, keep an eye on it and if it shows signs of water ingress then replace it with HO7. Either way make sure there's no edges to harm it. I'd...

    Floods on insulated steel buildings

If these are 100W LEDs will the bracket holes reach adjacent corrugations? If so 2 internal verticals, zeb and bolt direct. Dont forget to use a sealant. Used this method for T&K brackets, but you won't need to attatch to the cladding horizontals.

Errrrr disgusting!!!!!! Nasty side of electrical work!

    1) As an apprentice in 1972 I went into a house to fit a phone. It smelt horrible but the front room, where we had to work, looked ok. All we had to do was run a cable along the skirting behind the sofa, we pulled the sofa out and the dof poo filled the space to about a foot high. We just left...

Pete's Videos You to can be an Electrician

I assumed all the early stuff was the same. I always tried to use fittings to avoid bending. I thought it didn't look as nice as steel with the lovely formed bends. So different now... spring in, quick flick over the knee, sorted

Pete's Videos You to can be an Electrician

OK I'm happy to accept there were different types out there, the stuff I used was very shiny and didn't have much more sag than steel, come to think of it, it probably looked very similar to black laquered. I remember trying to bend a length into my Austin Maxi (maximum diagonal length around...

    Wet pants catastrophe

Of course... if you don't put sealant on them they come undone easily. I have 4 properties as part of my pension arrangements and dealt with all the immersion repars without any hic-cups until one failed the afternoon before my 2 week holiday, i got the agents to sort it and it cost me £180 for...

NHS issues safety alert on socket covers requiring removal from NHS premises!

I have two issues with the MK sockets of this design; 1) They are harder to insert than many other styles and people tend to locate the plug then give it a bash. this results in damaged sockets, especially the 'very safe mechanism' which often jambs open. Oh perhaps that's why we need the...

The early stuff had to be warmed, else it split. the first time I saw it done without heat I was gobsmacked. I don't know how long I was heating it after it changed.

HV phase lost, strange voltages on LV side

Following on; If the two low voltage phases have significantly different loads, the phase with the heavier load will be at less than 120v and the lighter loaded phase will be sitting above 120v, your figures of 70v and 150v don't surprise me at all but I'd have liked them to equal your regular...

HV phase lost, strange voltages on LV side

I know this is 6 months old but in my experience three phase transformers are wired without a neutral on the primary. If it were wired as star and one phase is lost, the centre point moves away from zero volts to 3.1Kv. The most likely result would be your 3 240v star secondaries would be 210...

    SY, CY None Compliant????

I have installed loads of the stuff within the controls environment. I have stopped using the 'proper glands' as I have had many failures where the 'proper gland' has damaged the screen to the point where it has broken. I use a stuffing gland then unweave the braid to twist it into a single then...
