I personally think its better putting smokes on the lighting circuit for the reasons mentioned above, but either I suppose will do as even if they are on there own circuit and it trips the mcb then you will normally notice the green light not been there when you turn the lights off at night.
If the socket was working before then i would say yes a live or neutral wire has come close in the socket so you will have to take it off again and check it wont be beause you have split the earths over the 2 terminals
Does look a bit ---- to me. As for the henley blocks they seem to be 2 one for the neutral and one for the line, why not just get a bit of 25mm tails and put it in one hole and loop it into the other hole on the same block and do tbe same for the other block and there you have it no more holes...
Hi, i wohld say no dont do any courses that say you will be qualified in a few months its take 3-4 years to become qualified correctly, if you do the 10 week courses it will not be very easy to find employment as these courses are looked down on in the electrical industry as you cant get the...
Thanks for the replys, the switch feels like it is working fine cant tell anything wrong with it, and yes i am aware that it has to have a bit of force applied to it to use the hammer and i have tried ot but nothing, even when i turn it to just chisel mode which is suppose to stop it from...
Wondering if any one knows what could be wrong with my sds.
I have a dewalt dch273 battery sds drill that i got from my brother a few months ago as he went from dewalt to hilti tools and i havnt used it much but today i went to use it and the selector switch wont seem to change it to any other...
By the sounds of his posts he has "belled out" connected together and checked for continuity and he is getting continuity on line to earth but not on neutral to any other wire so as every one else has said you have a missing neutral. There is a either a damaged neutral or a neutral connection...
Hi Haptism.
I worked on a lot of three phase stuff while doing my nvq but one of my friends on the same course as me only worked in caravan industry and domestic industry and did no 3 phase at all. All the 3 phase he did was in the Am2 and that was enough for him to pass his nvq3 so I would say...
I have only been in the game 7 years but my first 2 weeks i wore a old pair of faded levi's and i use to put the side cutters in my back pocket when not used haha then i bought some henry lloyd work trousers with holster pockets and about 10 other pockets with my first wages.
That has not happened yet so i am not sure i presume he would say it needs a board change. but we dont do the board changes it gets passed back to them and there own guys change it so he would only earn from the test any way so probily would not want that to happen
Welcome david.
if you are starting out on the 2365 then apply to access our trainee section. that really helped me out while i was training.
hope you enjoy working in the electrical field.
as far as im away the niceic told him this about another job he was on and just made the blanket statement they should all be on rcbo/rcd, which i dont beleave.
also yes the supp bonding was in place and every thing and i did give it a C3 but he still told me to change the mcb for a rcbo
I honestly dont know, probily not though. he just told me that they said to put rcd protection on all lighting circuits that have a bath/shower. i personally dont beleave him i just think he was sticking up for his golden boy and didnt want him to be proven wrong. i didnt argue with him he told...
Sorry lads i forgot to update you all.
basically he agreed with me and we wasnt going to put one in but then the boss came and said basically the niceic have apparently said to him to put any lighting circuit containing a bath or shower on rcd/rcbo so any we find have to be changed to an rcbo...
i have had that sort of stuff from the plaster boarders. pulled cables in for about 10 circuits few rings, lights stuff like that all back to consumer unit and went home for the weekend as it was a Friday. came back on the Monday to find not only had he boarded and skimmed the wall but had also...
I have never really got that high result always lower than the main dno fuse so all good.
if it was excessivly high then i would look into it a bit deeper and try to get a better figure.
also mine comes to 52A which is a hell of a lot more than we use i recon we would be hard pushed to use...
The way i was taught at college was to add all the breakers up and multiply by 0.4 (so 40 percent) thats what i did for my final exam at college and it was marked as correct so that is what i have done since.
