Neutral Problem With Lights

Was asked to look at lights on a farm that had stopped working, I tested it at the board in the shed and the neurtul bar was live, i eventually got it traced back to just the cable coming from the house to the first shed. I tested it and the readings where as follows, L-E 230v (normal), N-E no voltage (normal), L-N 24v (yes 24v, not normal). Any ideas as to why this ishappening?

"belling out" - how I hate this awful phrase.

Have you done any proper continuity tests using your MFT?

I would suggest you do:

R1 + R2
Rn + R2
R1 + Rn

and report back

Agree "belling out" sound amateurish. I took my bell out and changed it for a wireless one.

A simple continuity test of each conductor and an insulation resistance test between conductors will identify the problem.

You've got a broken neutral between the house and the first shed.

mmmm! Wearth a check on that neutrul, then.
Should think about getting his liver checked, too.

By the sounds of his posts he has "belled out" connected together and checked for continuity and he is getting continuity on line to earth but not on neutral to any other wire so as every one else has said you have a missing neutral. There is a either a damaged neutral or a neutral connection has come loose.

it's all due to polittical correct shyte. the poor neutral is trying to decide if it's gender neutral or just neutral. while it's deliberating, it can't find it's way. so, no neutral today.

Do ‘belling out’ and ‘nothing’ have any particular values of resistance associated with them?

I have three testers which have an audible continuity test function, all three of them have different thresholds so what ‘bells out’ on one tester will be ‘nothing’ on another.
