RCDs: everything an electrician should know - IET Electrical - http://electrical.------.org/wiring-matters/68/rcds/index.cfm
been asked by mates a couple of times this year do I know of any electrical apprenticeship’s goin , in the summer I managed to find a lad one through the power of face book
This lad had done all his college but seemed to be left to his own devices to find an employer to get site experience and...
I prefer to use not snips/side cutters but what we call crops or shears think the trade name is , the ones with the curved cutting edges , can’t beat them in my personal opinion
Oh and I have the klein ones ( courstesy of company) which I rarely use , but they do a good job when I do venture in a panel with hundreds of cores facing me
Think these tools are good if you Are panel wiring etc with fine stranded wire, with many multi core cables to strip , they make a perfect strip and never cut into cores , not that you should if you are a skilled electrician
But for everyday sparking a bit OTT in my opinion , but each to their...
For yourself yes , all depends what the client requires , can soon escalate
But labour only contracting £800-1000 , 1 days works 2 sparks 2/3 mates/apprentices , that’s when I call it hard work , head down arse up
But as one of the sparks you should be taking £250 out of that price at least...
On a large scale though the cost of say 30 new light fittings compared with 30 new lamps could start adding up
Don’t get me wrong really like led lighting but not sure they are living up to expectations and do people realise some are non maintable , which may have massive cost implications...
You can buy single to double even quadruple socket converters , I have used them years ago on council upgrade works they are really good , as long as you buy a half decent make , google it , I’ve added a link to one
Robus Socket Duplicator -...
Have they past the 5 year mark , do you know if it’s easy to pick up spare drivers and leds
Something I will be enquiring about this week with ours , no doubt
yes a tricky one really , not really investigated how maintable led fittings are , can’t see any replaceable parts in the 600*600...
For us we have to access these light out of hours because they are in car parks or on walk ways etc, cherry picker hire , premium rates , supervision , so cost wise job has to be complete that day or it’s a return visit
Can you now walk into a wholesalers and buy drivers and leds off the shelf...
My point exactly , some of these cheap versions aren’t maintainable like existing flood lights (not LED ) quite a lot Are cheap and Nasty Chinese imports , re packaged to look great
I have done a few tenanted 3 bed houses in a day 4 men team poss 5 (in my few years of house bashing )
Council houses these , tenants have already moved all furniture into middle of room , most floor boards have been up before and runs are ready to go for you , the houses are exactly the same...
Seems the so called cheaper ones aren’t lasting , we are tied to CEF and just use these tamlight ones they supply , which build wise seem quite good (sure they will supply us any manafacture at a cost££££)
Would like to know which fittings are best value for money and longest hour rating on life...
