    I know why your thinking unlikely but trust me I’ve seen it , how when they were drilling it never shorted , seen t and e with rawl plugs and screws straight through neutral and earths , millimetres either side and the tennant would have had singed eye brows , expect the unexpected

    Been asked this question today by one of our engineers , do you need to pat test / test fixed appliances / equipment ( hand dryers , heaters etc ) My opinion Yes he thinks no Something we don’t really do but know we really should and keep records of these tests

    Once found missing leg , if not snapped off at terminal , good chance a picture hook or screw for shelf etc has gone through cable , seen it many times right above socket , if not could be dodgy joint box

    No I don’t accept it’s nearlt impossible to test between live conductors 1 immersion heater, turn off dp switch then test 2 ring , items will be unplugged any way from sockets , test Lighting yes time consuming , would do l and n to earth No tools needed once DB cover off

    Pretty sure niceic recommend r1 r2 method to loop on Old periodic tests , more accurate and safer method ,(don’t quote me on this ) If you measure a Zs then how do you know it is done thru a cpc of the cct under test and not from supp bonding or from fortuitous indirect contact from another cpc ?
