    Fine place Hornchurch. :cool: However the op does seem a bit like he is fishing! Local councils and housing associations do sometimes spec for an isolator after the meter if your changing the board .....and EDF want you to install an isolator BEFORE the meter when doing new laterals.

    True, the Regulations are a guide for the competent. And the absolute bible for others. I just can't see how putting up a 3rd amendment metal ccu with a big hole in the back, lining up with a big hole in the wall satisfys the Regs. You would always put fire breaks in metal Trunking going...

    Sure Dave no problem, i'll explain it if your struggling..... The spirit of the Reg is to prevent fires in domestic installations spreading from the CCU to the fabric of the building. I agree its better to prevent a fire starting in the first place by making sound connections but unfortunately...

    This is our take on it, and our NIC assessors....... To maintain the integrity of the CCU and comply with the regulation all holes in the ccu should have a suitable fireproof seal. To say there is no "Specific requirement" for cable glands is in my opinion just splitting hairs and goes against...

    These are both very neat but I would want you to fit Intumescent pads over the cutouts at the back to maintain the fireproof integrity of the ccus.

    I think that's exactly who it was aimed at, him and a few others make this place very hostile at times and very unwelcoming to genuine people who's only crime is that they know less than him. Shame really as the forem is great apart from a cliquey few who can't wait to jump in with snide...

    Whilst i agree it Calcs out I would not recommend it. Ive had call outs the last two Christmas days for people with tripping cookers. Every ring on and oven on full bore does happen! However if the OP is aware of this risk then its his decision.

    Fair enough your still learning your trade, and well done for asking when your not 100% sure. A good trait........ When you boil it down you have a 40A MCB supplying 2 x ring mains, a 32A hot tub, a 16A radial (which you haven't given any details of) and 2 lighting circuits. You must see that...

    Got paid 8 minutes...... didn't take 8 minutes! Jib firm, rates were crap so they paid in hours. Rewire worth 60hrs etc So on the cards but on price. Kept you motivated!

    We used to get paid 8 Minutes to change a plug top when we was doing rewires in the early 80s, changing 15A round pin plugs to new fangled 13 Ampers! Got pretty fast at them, (think i used my little Yankee!:D)
