Ffs....no different to extending any cable....just use the right cable !

Adapting a 3 phase industrial machine to single phase

Some interesting design decisions to be made. I would suggest that this is not the forum for those as is well out outside of normal electrician territory.

Recommend me a Type B (3 Phase) Distribution Board

There is no room for full-service sparks with me. Each to their own.

Adapting a 3 phase industrial machine to single phase

Yes but you can step voltage up easily with AC using a transformer.

Recommend me a Type B (3 Phase) Distribution Board

Thx. Reliability of their MCBs and RCBOs OK?

Ferrules on stranded cables will be mandated in regs before long for sure !

Recommend me a Type B (3 Phase) Distribution Board

Not at all. Can get spares onsite. Besides paying the spark for a full day when the job will take quite a bit less ..so room to spare.

Adapting a 3 phase industrial machine to single phase

Just what I was going to suggest. It maybe that the overall load precludes this and would blow a 1P 100A fuse. Could also be cost prohibitive.

Recommend me a Type B (3 Phase) Distribution Board

not really as its zero cost in buying twice as can return

Recommend me a Type B (3 Phase) Distribution Board

Well the modules are super cheap, freely available from the likes of toolstation etc. So can buy more than you need and send 'em back if they break. In terms of space...its a 3 phase board....loads of space surely ? Wonky metalwork...can deal with that....buy in advance, inspect, return if...

    Torque Talk

hmmm....if temperatures are getting high enough to that then cable is likely undersized

Recommend me a Type B (3 Phase) Distribution Board

sure....but lets be objective here....what in your opinion is bad about it? Are, say, the 3P MCBs rubbish?

Electric switch covered in plaster, now light doesn't turn off

...and what would that achieve, other than a demotivated ----ed off trade.

Recommend me a Type B (3 Phase) Distribution Board

I only work with trades on a labour-only basis. Yes of course will run BOM past the sparky, but he doesnt really care what brand I procure :-).

Recommend me a Type B (3 Phase) Distribution Board

Need to source Type B 3-phase distribution & 3P MCBs for EVSE, 1P RCBOs etc. so my sparky can install. A 6-way 3P board will suffice. Wondering what the general concensus is. Say, Contactum at the cheaper end vs Schneider Acti9 at the upper end. Drawn towards the Schneider as super neat...

Electric switch covered in plaster, now light doesn't turn off

Plasterers are messy sods. Remove the switch. Clean the cables and switch - the plaster will come off super easily. If needed, a new switch costs buttons as do Wago connectors. So a storm in a teacup and not worth falling out with a tradesman over, but to be honest, on balance, this is on...

UK Self Certification - Sending Completion Cert to Building Control

Thanks all. I did miss earlier responses answering original Q....tricky to navigate this forum on the phone as it does get rather swamped with adverts - a whole lot easier in front of a monitor.

    Torque Talk

There are plenty of mini-torque wrenches out that that can take screwdriver bits, but fully accept space constraints in some cases.

    Torque Talk

Spot on. Also wheel nuts are subject to significant forces and vibration making torque settings important. Whereas Domestic Electrical installations are (generally) not subject to these forces & vibrations, and so terminal screws, if nipped up, are highly unlikely to work loose. I guess the...
