PV+ - anybody heard of this?

please report them to trading standards & RECC if they are members, this is a scam based on complete lies, and by reporting the company you may save many others from being ripped off. Thanks.

    Battery Storage and Proportional Controllers

you need to be able to set the threshold quite high, and also ideally a time delay on the immersion controller. The Elios 4 you based systems are good for this, but I've just done a battery system with a more basic controller and even though we could change the threshold up to 100W it still was...

    New builds

if the owner wants higher FIT then there needs to be 2 EPC's produced, 1 before the solar is commissioned, 1 afterwards (and after the MCS cert and FIT application submitted if you want to be really safe.)

    Alternatives to SolarCity

If you could supply a little more info on what you're after I can probably help. is it for single phase or 3 phase grid connection, domestic or commercial application, and how much solar PV have you got installed? We can supply and install batteries with 6000 cycle design life starting a lot...

    Help with commercial PV install

is the existing 30kWp on the same unit? If so, before you go any further I'd be checking that he's aware that he'll not get the Feed In Tariff or export payments on the new system. It may still be viable for him, but best to check before doing much more work.

    New builds

stage payments. We have a 20% stage payment at panel installation stage, 20% upon final completion (10% initial deposit, 50% advance equipment payment at 21 days in advance).

    fault on inverter?

we've done 3 of them in the last few months, 1 just in warranty, 2 just out of it. Not ours, glad we never installed any of those inverters.

    SMA 4000TL 'Insulation resistance' error

call out fee - ours is £150 + travel time.

    SMA 4000TL 'Insulation resistance' error

it's quite common for that to happen on very cold damp winter mornings on start up, I wouldn't worry about it at that frequency. The insulation resistance value can be lowered from 1MOhm to 500Ohms to reduce the frequency of it happening, but it's not worth the call out fee at that frequency.

    Solar PV Industry??

ahahahaha - ay, long gone. We're lucky to make that from a 20kW these days. Need to be efficient and have a good pipeline of work from multiple sources to survive, but the market is picking up.

    Export Limitation

I think the sibert option can function without the link to the inverters, just by fitting a contactor to cut off one of the 2 inverter circuits if export exceedes 3.68kW

NAPIT demanding we reconcile all our MCS certs with building regs notifications back to 2010

Thanks for that, I went back initially with something fairly similar to that but they seemed quite insistent. going to return to the theme and point out that they never emailed the guidance to us, and that the guidance itself was written in a future tense so doesn't indicate that it was actually...

Solar Panels do not reduce Electricity Usage significantly - Confused

I really would be checking for something being switched on in the house that shouldn't be as that's the most likely explanation of this situation. Turn everything off that you're aware of as well as the solar pv system, and time the time between flashes on the LED on your incoming meter. Each...

    Commercial PV installation Qualifications

well, we never did one, though I don't think they existed before we'd done several commercial projects. All depends if you know what you're doing already or not, if not then the course will presumably help ensure that you comply with all the regulations.

    Commercial PV installation Qualifications

You ought to end up being more than ok to design and manage the installations, but initially I'd advise subbing the electrical connections to an experienced commercial / industrial electrician, at least on anything more complex. You can then gain more experience of that type of work as you go...

Solar Panels do not reduce Electricity Usage significantly - Confused

you should see a bigger reduction than that, though it does depend on your consumption pattern - if you're never in during the day and don't set washing machines etc off to use daytime power and have that low level of consumption then it could be right. Are you sure your loft light hasn't been...

NAPIT demanding we reconcile all our MCS certs with building regs notifications back to 2010

interesting, thanks. In terms of the 2011 change to the solar pv thing then it looks like they must have changed the portal at that point, but I've not got any email notification from them that this has been done and I have a dozen or so emails from them in the month they claim to have notified...

NAPIT demanding we reconcile all our MCS certs with building regs notifications back to 2010

15 views, no other response except from Medoria, can I assume that this isn't something that everyone else has been expected to do at this years assessment?

NAPIT demanding we reconcile all our MCS certs with building regs notifications back to 2010

yes, had it on Monday. It seems to have been, I'm not entirely sure on what basis they're demanding that we do it, but they basically asked to know the number of MCS certs issued then tried to match that with the number of Building Regs notifications and wanted us to explain the difference...
