Becoming an Electrician - Starting Over Again - Advice?

You're wasting your talents. Get into automation. Robot programming or PLC programming. Leave wiring houses to the guys who have been doing it since they were 16. They are more experienced and quicker than you, you'll find it hard to catch up. PLC programming on the other hand will be a...

DIY Forum for DIY Electricians? - Doing It Yourself? Electrical Advice This Way

Yes it was I understand that you don't want disruptive members, it makes sense. But I was merely stating that not every new member is a good thing either. There is some higher calibre than others. Would you rather have a electrical engineer from Brazil or Pamela from Stoke who has a can do...

Esteemed Member Tag Now Available (Automatically Dished Out)

Who cares. You really don't need your name in a different colour to make you worth listening to or not. Maybe I see things differently to others, I also refuse to put a footer on my e-mail boasting of my company and position.

    Punch ups on site ! ! !

A punch up on site means instant dismissal, so it rarely ever happens. However there were a few shootings in our factory. Nothing serious, just a few kneecappings. At least that way the perpetrator is wearing a balaclava and can't be identified.

what was your most dangerous job peeps

I was actually long ways in the MEWP and it was fully extended out. So when I walked out to the edge it was sort of bouncing. The forks were not fully under the MEWP either, there was about 2ft between the mast of the flt and the MEWP Also the fork lift driver was stoned. He was the only one...

Any famous encounters with well known celebs?

My brother was in Jeremy Hunt's house last year. He was there in a business capacity, him and his wife was there also. My mate is just after buying a second hand E-Class that used to belong to Jacob Rees Mogg. I had it sitting at 130mph a few weeks ago. As for my most famous meeting of a...

    Another housebashing question

I just use plaster board fixings I've also slid bits of wood in behind the plaster board but never attached it to anything. Just left it floating in the void and had someone else pin it down whilst I screwed into it.

Didcot power station 33KV incident 18/08/19

I think it was a rough bit of work. The Risk Assessment should have checked out cables in the vicinity of the falling towers. In one video you can see the towers hitting the cables, they were saying about and touching each other.

    Thinking about my future

Talking about future etc. Did I see a thread by Essex saying he was retiring? I thought I seen it earlier on in the week but when I went back looking for it there was no sign of it. If he is fair play to him. Money made he's still a young man.

    Duck/chicken coop design help

Elevate the floor of the pen so it is higher than the path way. Also it looks like it is a concrete floor so there is no natural way the water can soak away. The concrete blocks around it create a swimming pool filling up effect. At least drill a hole in the lowest corner so the water can...
