    Street Light Earthing/Bonding Query

Thanks guys. No idea what size that mess is coming off the jubilee clip. Think I'll have another look today and do some further tests. RE TNS/TNCS - location is a school, so documentation is non-existent - except for a recent EICR which states TNCS. I'll head to the intake room and have a...

    Street Light Earthing/Bonding Query

Apologies in advance if I'm missing the obvious here or not referring to the correct section of 18th or the GN's. In honesty I think I'll get a better answer from the discussion here anyway. So I'm about to do some head upgrades from failed SOX to LED. A reasonably starightforward like-for-like...

    BICC Fuse Carrier Wanted

An obscure one I know. Currently doing private street light head upgrades. Poles & cutouts originally fitted 1964. Have been re-supplied with PVC SWA at some point (the old SWA is cut off at the bottom, think it must have been cut through at some point). There's only 2 groups of 3 posts, each...

Do I need to be registered with a competent scheme to be entitled to issue an EIC?

Just wanted to chip in to say I'm currently doing 2391. No AM2 either but have done 18th, also working on maintenance in commercial myself and have years of experience - but likewise never actually designed and installed a new cct entirely unsupervised. I'm finding myself having exactly the...

German Wiring , is it superior /?

Certainly my experience as a regular visitor to Germany is indeed, conduit is straight only, no elbows, glands etc. Generally just pushed into adaptable boxes. Metal fixings etc I don't think are talked about. Not sure what the word is on RCDs . At my Girlfriends old flat lights sockets etc...

    Electrical lighting emergency light

Very informative and interesting - appreciate your response. I think BS5266 is next on my cards, as it seems to have lots of quirks

    Electrical lighting emergency light

Sorry to dig up an old post, but didn't notice the replies and don't like leaving things unfinished! My understanding is that this is certainly true of 'exit boxes' (although I see many that aren't). However, the 'general use' bulkhead EM's we buy are all configurable to be either maintained...

Is pvc pvc T&E soon to be written off ?

Distinctly remember white PVC T&E being available at a lighting retailer here in the mids up to about 2004, and grey PVC t&e also available from the DIY sheds. The white T&E noticeably different from todays white LS0H by being soft and subtle and of course, old colours. On the contrary, our...

Just interested to know how you all make holes in metal enclosures, CUs etc

Q-Max cutters are great. I've used them for multiple applications over the years, particuklarly panel & enclosure building.

    Electrical lighting emergency light

This was my thought. I've done the same to facilitate a "night light" at work. Last man out turns the corridor lights off, 2 way switch turning the lights off then makes the EM bulkhead above the alarm panel live on L1 to give a courtesy light, with battery kept charged by a perm L

A little one but worth sharing. Report came in that the "heater switch" wasn't working and cracked. I went across with a new FCU assuming the obvious loose connection / poor quality FCU / over fruity heater causing an overheat. Transpired that the installer perhaps didn't double check the flex...

An important reminder on safe isolation - no matter how simple the job. Replacing emergency light fittings: Isolated CCT at DB. LNE terminals all checked between and confirmed safe to work on. Note the grey T&E with taped up ends also entering the enclosure. It would have been easy to assume...
