Why do my bathroom light switches keep failing?

Hi Sam ... Wow, lol. By dead do you mean the pull chord won't operate and nothing else? Have you used a voltage tester to make sure there is still power present at the switch? If it's literally just the pull chord refusing to pull, dare i say you might be the 'hulk' and not realise it. I.e...

    Joining cables.

the 'red' book your using went out of use in 2011 ... the green book came in, and now the yellow. Tell your boss to get up to date, we all have to fork the IET con money out every 3/4/5years.

What Qualifications Class you as a fully Qualified Electrician

I have no idea what that is. And I'm pretty sure most of the guys on here won't either - which just shows you how 'valued' it is. You can 'sign off' your own work, it's just not recommended really but theres technically nothing wrong with it. All you're doing is putting your name down to...

What Qualifications Class you as a fully Qualified Electrician

HHD you don't have to be a member of a scheme to sign your own work off mate. You don't even need to be a member of a scheme to notify works, it just costs you an arm and a leg if you're not a member

    shower wired in swa?

Genuinely never thought of it like that. I always note if i see t+e outside anyway, but i never really see the problem with it along as it tests out fine. I always use flex outside, regardless of the t+e outside debate it does look hideous, flex is such a neater job.

    shower wired in swa?

I'm gonna re-read this thread, because i think I'm missing the point. I totally get what you're saying and i understand that, but thats just for the comments box on a eicr ... if it IR's satisfactory then its electrically safe, can't go round replacing **** on the assumption someone might move it?

    shower wired in swa?

I have literally seen thousands of t+e exposed around here, caravan sites are quite common places for exposed t+e and yes the sheath has faded a tiny bit but still IR's like 400-500 ... it must be cheap import cable you've seen. I don't use t+e for outdoor application personally but i've seen...

    Death penalty

I can't be bothered with heated debates on here. The truth is, its a democracy and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. They're no right or wrong answers.

    Death penalty

10/10 for how you've quoted me. No, its not OK to take innocent lives. But if you murder someone you should pay with your own life - that has nothing to do with it being a deterrent or how high or low crime rates are.

fuse connection unit and outdoor lighting low voltage

Okay, well there's not really a problem. Other than the fact you don't need RCD sockets or FCU if you've installed the new circuit on the RCD side of the CU. Just a side note, new circuits are also notifiable works.

fuse connection unit and outdoor lighting low voltage

Spurring a RCD FCU from a socket to feed lights is not a problem, providing you downgrade the fuse in the FCU accordingly. However, it says you've installed sockets on the decking also, and that you've wired the RCD FCU from the sockets that you've just wired as well? Not sure if I'm reading it...

Recent past papers for 17th wiring regs course?

This goes against common-sense & being helpful, but, you honestly don't need to revise in any way shape or form. Its an open book multiple choice pointless exam.
