    MCB or RCBO

Got sent to a job today for an outside lighting issue, basically to cut a long story short I'm taking the new supply from a different DB so will be installing a new circuit to feed the time clock, so I put down for a Type C 20amp RCBO as the lights are wired in 2.5mm cable and LED floods. I got...

JIB Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) JIB ECS

If I was going to work for a JIB company and get all the perks and correct wages then I probably would have a good think about it, but it just winds me up when places are asking for it and there not even JIB registered or give you the benefits or pay the wages the JIB state, it's all wrong. I...

    New Inspection and Testing Courses??

Unfortunately gone are the days when companies used to pay for the courses and would send you on them all to keep you upto date, now they tell you what courses they want you to do and you've got to fund it.

    New Inspection and Testing Courses??

There's a multiple choice exam for your first unit which can be used for each qualification, then you have a written exam for each qualification and then a practical for each qualification. I found it very beneficial to do these even having my 2391, it is just basically the 2391 split into two...

    doubling cable over for termination?

I've never done it as I was told it was doubling your csa, how does this affect using torque setting screwdriver? Also if you look on mcb ' s or rcbo's it shows the cable as normal not doubled over.

    doubling cable over for termination?

Working onsite with a few apprentices the other day and noticed that every cable they terminated into the mcb or rcbo was doubled over, so when I asked them why they were doing it there reply was college taught them to do it that way. Now I have always terminated the cable without doubling it...

    A New Life

Metal CU aren't going to stop cowboys still fitting them and not making sure the terminals are tight enough by using a torque setting screw driver and doing a proper job, still going to get issues no matter what. Should make it compulsory to fit a smoke or heat detector above the CU so if a fire...

schneider kq 250amp switch connector won't fit?

Yep the switch disconnector is KQ B aswell, speaking to the wholesalers everything should fit but it doesn't, I don't usually use KQ I prefer the isobar 4, the old merlin, and have never had an issue like this before. The only reason I'm using the KQ range is due to the spec stipulating it, if...
