    Contactor/overload wiring help pls...

Yes I agree, the client had a company come and install the pump but they didn't do the electrics. I asked what's needed to control the pump and they supplied me the gear as in photo. Seems over the top to me, but that's what I have. I see no reason for the contactor, but assumed it's needed just...

    Contactor/overload wiring help pls...

If you knew how to do it then why not just tell me which connections (they're all marked on the unit in the pic) to put the L/N feed into and which connections to put the L/N pump wires into and which (if any) to link together. Thought that's a pretty straight forward request for someone who is...

    Contactor/overload wiring help pls...

Sorry, don't have a pic of the cover. It has a blue reset button which sits over the contactor. Not sure why, because the thermal overload has it's own reset button.

    Contactor/overload wiring help pls...

Yes the pump has it's own pre-wired control float. There is also a separate float to indicate high level, which I've wired into an alarm unit..

    Contactor/overload wiring help pls...

Hi all, never had to wire a domestic sewerage pump before so not my usual line of work. Was told I need a thermal overload for the pump (1.1kw) and this came with a contactor (not sure why it needs a contactor, but it appears that the overload unit need one to plug into. Can anyone please advise...

What do folk do when given a CU with switch on wrong side?

Isn't this what the cut-out fuse is for? ;-) Perhaps could've done a neater job sticking the neutral in but at least there's an insulating cover over the busbar. If you were to dismantle an incomer switch I wonder what distance/insulation you'd find between L and N inside?

Fixed Ring in Kitchen - Wanted to check my understanding

I agree with the argument that extra switches above worktop are just un-necessary clutter! Especially for fridges/freezers, what it they're turned off accidentally? Surely a socket located in an adjacent kitchen cabinet is the way, and can simply be spured from a socket on the ring above the...

    £800+ to Join Trustatrader!

I think I can beat that, I've never advertised since I started paid work over 30 years ago, not even a sign written vehicle, and once I found 50 Pence on top of an old CU I was replacing and I was allowed to keep it... :-)

    Which screwdrivers?

Just found the 4.5 in my set of Wiha so I'll try that out tomorrow before I rush into buying more 4mm. I s'pose using the 4mm for everything is whats killing them :-)

    Which screwdrivers?

I have a set of Wiha which I bought just to rob the smaller blades from. There was no 4mm in the set though. Problem is I have loads of new big screwdrivers and always needing the smaller blades, shame no one sells a set of small blades. I tend to use the 4mm for sockets and switches, but maybe...

    Which screwdrivers?

Looks like Facom aren't any dearer than the Irazola.... I'm sure Irazola were far better before being taken over by Bahco. Thanks for the advice, I will try a set of Facom unless someone comes on here telling me how ---- they are! :-)
