    Anybody used conductive paint?

Quick update on this: I got the tube of goo and applied a very small dot to the broken terminal...15 minutes later I tested it and had conductivity. I had tested a line of it painted onto cardbpard and the resistance was high-ish, but anyway the tiny copper plate stuck well to the carbon ribbon...

How many pat tests in a day

Crawling around under desks in a busy office, and there hasn't been a vacuumcleaner under there for years, miles of extension leads, and you cant untangle them all so you have to have a long, already tested extension lead in order to check them all, and that's just the start... one a minute...

    Anybody used conductive paint?

Thanks @Moley I'll look for the Electrolube version too. The product I linked to said not for use with high-power items like heated rear screens. The problem is that the copper contact and the carbon track are the same size, so it would be tricky to glue the copper onto the track and then...

    Anybody used conductive paint?

After my recent, first foray into LED strips, I now find myself needing to repair a pcb where a copper contact has come adrift from what appears to be a carbon "pad". I found this: https://www.pcb-soldering.co.uk/bare-conductive-electric-paint-soldering-glue-10ml-pen Any advice greatly appreciated!

Just for fun...my very first attempt at using LEDs...I took an old iMac. stripped the innards out of it, put the driver inside the body, led the mains out through an existing aperture with a grommet in it, added a double pole inline switch, stuck the LED tape on the bezel, having routed it...

    Holiday let Fire Alarm

My personal experience is that I have had the Aico 10 year battery powered alarms in my home for 8 years now and there's no suggestion of the battery failing in any of the units. I installed the same ones in my daughter's flat 6 years ago, no problem so far. I have installed quite a few over the...

    Holiday let Fire Alarm

Here in bonnie Scotland, Aico 10 year li battery smokes and heats, radio interlinked...there is no simpler system. No redecoration, no raggling (chasing)of walls and ceilings, plastering, painting... Just stick 'em up, pair them, walk away...I have never had a call-back on Aico yet. OK, it's...

Is the width of 12x1220mmx2440mm plyboard enough for a test rig or would i need a 18x instead?

I enjoyed David Savery's video of a test rig (with built in fault) that allows all sorts of testing... It's a long watch, but quite entertaining.

PAT test class 1 appliance no plug

As said above by @pc1966 at least do that earth test. I'm finding that increasingly we need to check fixed appliances connected to FCU etc as the emphasis has shifted from the term "Portable". I use this https://www.pattesters.co.uk/quick-test-connector-safe-block A decent length of suitable...

What does 'mixed lines' mean with regards an EICR?

It isn't uncommon for a Scottish surveyor to comment "The wiring appears to be of mixed age/condition and a prospective purchaser might consider it prudent to have the electrical installation checked by a qualified electrician". What this means is simply that the surveyor preparing the Home...

What wall mounted electric heaters to use for an apartment these days ?

Fiddly timers and menu driven electronics are my worst nightmare. That's why I recommended the infrared panels, on a stat. Set and forget. Lightweigt and easy to hang too.
