    Robot lawnmower guide wire repair

Send your wife to guide a proper mower round the lawn? Tin hat on! Seriously, use a cable tracer and follow the cable 'til it loses signal...

hand tools when your old and falling apart

For the record, as a tennis player, I always recycle my tennis balls by giving them to my dog-owning friends...and I mean quality balls, not cheap crap! These used balls, from a premium maker, last at least 3x as long as the cheap ones! Once the dogs get them, we're talking at least 3 minutes...

hand tools when your old and falling apart

The Bosch Go2 electric screwfriver is a fat handled unit. It also has variable torque, so is great for faceplate screws when set at a low level. You can turn up the torque for other work or lock it off. It saves time and obviously you don't need to use your wrists as much as with a normal driver.

Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :)

@littlespark The Netflix series is called "Ripley". It's in 8 episodes and shot in black and white. The camera work is fabulous. I'm not one to rave about stuff on TV, but if you like a good murder story then go for it! Not my genre usually, but my pal nagged me to watch it, and I'm glad I did.

I had nothing planned for this morning, following a couple of days working alongside another forum member. Thus, I decided last night to have a lazy lie-in, so I had a couple of drinks, a Chineses take-away with a friend, and I went to bed about 11pm...started to watch a Netflix series...

    Drilling holes in Fusebox knockouts?

I recently installed a number of new circuits in a building acquired by and adjacent to my local branch of the Men's Shed. The CU was already in place, a new one installed by the landlord, simply providing lighting and sockets circuits. The added circuits were for the roller shutter doors, an...

    Drilling holes in Fusebox knockouts?

I agree that the Q-max punches are great for such hole cutting. There's no jarring and vibration like with a holesaw and no chance of breaking through and damaging already installed gear. Been there, done it...but sadly didn't get the T-shirt!

Fitting your own air con unit?

I fitted one of those exact units along with a pal as he needed it for his office. It was a simple, straight-forward task as it was pre-charged and the pipework was pre-assembled. The trick is to order the length of pipework to suit, better too long, and then position the outdoor unit...

What I had on this morning was driving home to Glasgow from my sister's house in Ardnamurchan where I had arrived on Friday afternoon. The weather was subl9ime all the time apart from a one hour rain and hail shower yesterday morning about 10am. The trip down today was perfect, the sun was...

    I've got one somewhere

I have memories of a couple of ironmongers shops of the old school...everything you could want, all in cardboard boxes, staff members in brown coats and knew where everything was... For those of you familiar with Glasgow, we had Catani and Crocketts and Bill's Tool Store Many years ago, the big...

    PAT testing courses

I did a course some years ago and it was excellent. The couple who ran it are based in England but they ran courses all over the uk, and mine was just outside Glasgow. I checked their website but sadly they don't offer such courses anymore. I bought one of their testers, and sent it for...

Today is recovery day for me after a long day yesterday giving a helping pair of hands to another forum member who was installing an EV charger. Long cable runs up an external wall into the attic and much crawling about up there, so my old bones and knees need a day or two to recover. Later...

    Milwaukee M18 Fuel!

Ok, I'm a DeWalt guy and have found their stuff very good over the years. however, I am not a heavy, daily user. It's clear thatmanufacturers have different quality in their ranges, so one drill at the cheaper end may be pretty poor compared with their top-end offering. However, just to throw...
