I prefer it by myself.
With regards a rewire, I will carry out a thorough pre works visit. From this you can tell the customer which items they have to move out of the way beforehand, I.e. big bed gets put on its side etc.
Saying that, a rewire is the one job I will get a labourer in for...
I saw one of the 'real' wombles on TV.
It was on antiques roadshow.
A lady had brought in the first edition of the first wombles book by Elisabeth Beresford.
The lady was Elizabeth's daughter, who she had based 'bungo' on.
You see... the wombles are real!
Interesting point.
Yes, my quotes are very detailed. It's helped me out a few times by being able to refer the customer back to the quote. But, he could be using it as a template, as you say.
I expect he'll get his cheapy 'do it all' chap to do it.
I don't really mind, I was working opposite...
This is quite interesting! I assumed the average age would be in the 40-49 bracket.
So far, with a population of 33, we have an average age of 55.15 years (I have assumed each person is in the middle of the bracket as I don't know your exact ages).
I am happy as I am 4 years younger than the...
Update..
I went back around a month ago. Gave him a third quote, for the little bit of work mentioned above, which he wanted done quickly.
Nothing heard.
3 quotes now. No response to any of them. I'll do the work if he ends up accepting them, which sometimes can be months later. However, no...
Lets keep it simple. Anyone can vote! It's just to get an idea of the age of the people on this site, thought it might be a little interesting.
I've always assumed its mainly middle aged with a few retired and a few youngsters, we'll see.
edit.. the damn thing just pressed enter by its self...
I was trying to start a new thread today, with a poll. I can't seem to find the option though. Has it been taken away? Polls are fun!
Also, I notice on other threads that had polls, I can no longer see the poll... What is your hourly rate as a self employed electrician? (2023) | on Free...
It also wouldn't surprise me if this was a TT.
@davesparks explained to me a while back how a relatively high Ra (lets say 170ohms) may meet the regulations, but had an effect on whether the RCD would trip given a bad enough fault (or something similar to this). I wish I could find the thread...
This has happened to me twice now.
A really bad N-E fault had stopped the RCD test button from working (whilst loads were attached). It worked fine when loads disconnected.
I bet the RCD button works fine when the OP has disconnected the loads.
I agree, I mainly use integrated, although I struggle with the environmental implications, as I expect it is worse.
Yes, with LED's the current will be significantly less and I would think the (thermal) damage is likely to have been caused by the high current of the previously used halogens.
Over the years you come across quite a number of faults on Mr16's. They have more point of failures than GU10's.
They can fail on the driver, but also the little terminal blocks joining the lamp holder to the driver often have thermal damage due to them being ELV. Lastly, the lamp holder with...
Good call and poor terminology on my part. I have actually moved them all down a little now as I wanted to check them all, they are now making contact with the ferrule. Actual problem was with the RCBO though.
Doing a few jobs for a customer today and I came across a triple pole switch which had the bare earth being used as the switched live (SL)!!!
To make matters worse, the SL in the light switch went up under the floorboards in to a junction box somewhere, where it must have joined the earth...
