Indeed - it has surprised me.
Ah it's my spare (calibrated) tester - in fact my only tester that does RE tests, a great little unit - but yes I never took the protector off!!
Don't worry I haven't gone (completely) mad.
About a year ago a ride-on-lawnmower became over-friendly with my long RE test leads while I was drinking tea inside. I needed some replacements for a job next week so I was about to shell out nearly £100 for a new set, and then a thought crossed my...
You don't need to do that.
You just need to be able to access the certificates, in any form, paper or electronic.
The only thing you need to do on the Napit portal is notifications for Part P jobs.
I've used electraform for a while and recently been trying out the Megger CertSuite which so far...
You'd have to be mindful of SPD conductor lengths doing it that way.
I think Matt:E make a single board with Type A RCBO, openPEN detection and Type 2 SPD.
e.g ARD-1-40-TP-R-SPD
I have no idea what it costs though.
Without looking at the scenario myself, I find myself looking for ways to avoid...
Point taken and I agree this is the main issue - the level of risk is a function of the control measures which can be completely ignored immediately or in the future if management change.
In this case I believe the present management do care. To obtain keys for the 3 phase distro board that...
It's not him fitting it, it's you. He'll be the first to throw you under the bus if he wants PV and battery next year and the MCS guy mentions the EVCP on his site survey.
Please believe me that the DNO are your friends here. It takes very little admin effort to fill out the form and email...
Agreed!
I've just briefly explored if I can legitimately consider this under section 740, as a temporary supply to a structure.
This would require a 300ma RCD at origin (tick), and at first glance 30ma RCD protection for final circuits, and not specifically distribution circuits that come from...
This would have all been fine under 17th edition!
The 32A sockets needing additional protection under 18th should have had an exemption for 3ph distribution circuits IMHO!
Thanks for your thoughts.
Out of interest, what would be a ‘good’ circuit design for this scenario, as ultimately mobile units arrive with a male socket on them. They tend to have RCD main switch or all RCBO boards these days.
The only alternative I can think of is hard wiring each unit...
It's a good question. The further complexity is that one event uses their own portable unit, another event uses a larger one that is hired in.
I know their own unit is tested annually as I've been asked to test it and have seen the records.
The unit they hire in has it's own periodic testing...
I'm interested how you would all approach this one.
A 3 phase distribution board on a caravan site, under lock and key. Only warden and manager have access.
One of the final circuits is protected by a 32A 3ph MCB and it supplies a 32 amp TPN socket adjacent to the board, the socket having it's...
It actually isn't if you follow a logical process through the design and install process. You can then make informed choices to make the install easier.
I wouldn't call a 3 phase unit simple
But arguably significantly more dangerous if it isn't done right.
With your current philosophy of...
Have you read through this, regarding the DNO side of things?

At first glance, I'd assume your scenario...
I've finally found a customer rich enough to want a Zappi, and by heck it's so much nicer to install than the budget brands!
But I wonder if anyone has installed one with recent firmware?
All of the documentation and training videos talk about Device Limit and Grid Limit which make sense.
The...
