I used to use these for ages but I think they are a bit out of date now.

Note though that "signing off" work with these test certs doesn't mean the part P side of things. Also don't you now need to do the AM" as well before you can join the nicey.
Is it not a type "A" board, something like this
https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/1487202-4-way-tp-n-type-a-distribution-board-c-w-100a-switch-disconnector
I've no idea but cant you just say you dont remove stuff from site, anyway...
What's it got to do with NAPIT, at my assessment he arrived about 3 hours early, we talked none electrical stuff for a bit, I did a zs and RCD test on one circuit and then he left after less than an hour, oh, I did...
Bit of trivia I'm sure most experienced sparks know but a lightning conductor doesn't attract lightning and guide it to earth but instead bleeds off enough electrons from the sky so there is never enough of them to form into lightning in the first place.
Cant say I've ever seen a twin blue cable so I did a quick google and the nearest it came up with is a twin brown cable in a blue sheath, I've seen grey and white sheath and of course the old black rubber but never blue, does it have a specific use, I know the red 3core&E is used on fire/smoke...
I Dont fit Hager boards but is that SPD even wired up? Usually when the SPD sits to the right of the main switch its fed from an MCB, how does the bus bar get from the main switch to the SPD past the neutral terminal on the switch if its fed direct.
Edit: I've just found this picture which...
Can you imagine the conversations in the IEE office,
"look man we need to get a new book out ASAP I need a new Rolls Royce. But sir we cant release a new book until we've had 3 amendments to the current book. Well what are you waiting for, get an amendment out now. What on sir. Anything, I...
Saw the same on a fan switch, they had bridged out the permanent live for some reason but the sw live and neutral still went through the switch. Also according to my old boss who is probably about 80 by now he managed to kill someone whilst he was an apprentice, he was told to pull a fuse and...
I had one the other day, stop tap right at the back of the house and needed to do some kitchen electrics, bloke is saying be very careful with the incoming water pipe as its lead so don't bend it. I had a closer look to see where I could clamp onto and it was a black plastic alkathene pipe...
A 2 storey house is a single fire compartment so unless its an integral garage below a bedroom then no fire rating is necessary with downlights. Thats the way I understand it, regs change with a 3 storey house.
Sure you could make sure every tiny downlight hole is entirely safe from the spread...
I'm begining to think like this now, I very rarely work for builders anymore but the couple that I still do work for are the worst payers out of the lot. I've just done the banking tonight and surprise surprise the only two invoices that haven't been paid are from the two builders. There is one...
I'll be the first to admit that I don't have much enthusiasm for doing this job anymore, its only the relatively easy money that keeps me going but why on earth do customers think the world revolves around them. Just in the last week I turned up to do some lights in a bathroom for a small...
Found it, I think.
https://professional-electrician.com/technical/rcds-metal-consumer-units-and-tt-installations-napit/
you can avoid 10 minutes reading it if you want and skip to the last line, which is what NAPIT could have done.
Do you need to install an RCD on a TT installation before a...
Is there not some sort of guidance or similar issued by NAPIT or the NIC that states tails that are securely clamped and glanded in a metal enclosure aren't classed as a risk in a metal TT enclosure.
You wont damage the mat by sending 500 or even 1000V from the megger down the live and neutral wires, the current from these meters is so low it wont do anything, I think its 1mA max.
On a similar note I've fitted loads of these mats over the years and tested each on before and after and never...
Is the money that good it makes all this H&S nonsense worthwhile, even the simpleton labourer on our jobs understands "don't touch that fuse box its live". and I can walk round in shorts and a t-shirt all day and still do ok money wise.
Does anyone have a facebook page that runs a company? If you have a disagreement with a customer as sure as eggs are eggs they will go to war with you on facebook, that is certain. And every facebook Karen in the area will relish the chance to jump on the bandwagon, before you know it you will...
