No
Being a member of a scheme is only required for domestic notification.
For everything else you need competency.
Of course he would need to test, although why does he need a MFT?
He is required to test using suitable equipment, which does not mandate a MFT, a lot of people still use...
It very much depends on the work you want your staff to do.
Some "maintenance" are well qualified completely capable of new installation work and/or detail design and modification of electrical, PLCs etc etc.
Other "maintenance" are really just capable of changing the occasional lamp and...
The motor size doesn't matter, it depends upon whether the motor has a centrifugal switch or not (opens when the motor is up to speed).
If there isn't a speed switch, it is likely to be a run capacitor, not start.
Can't tell about the one you ordered, it doesn't give any details as to being...
Sorry, should add
Is is definitely a start capacitor, and not a run capacitor?
If you are buying one, it is best to pick up a run capacitor just in case.
In terms of start capacitor, no nothing special, a run capacitor may be used in its place, however the reverse is not true.
Start capacitors, because they are only used for starting and are disconnected above ~75% normal speed are often only rated for intermittent use - due to losses (often...
There is no "Absolutely must have" about holding the cert for the current regulations to do work, only that you are competent.
Company policies aside, as above; H&S guy is "a*** covering " - a suitable pass/certificate is the best way of demonstrating competency though.
To do any work on electrical equipment, the person needs to be competent.
Competent means having the knowledge and experience for the work being undertaken.
If the work means installing anything new, they would need to be conversant with the current regulations - 18th ammendment 2 today...
Only the DNO can answer that, ask for the higher rating, or a seperate supply to another building, or three phase.
If they quoted previously, you may have their contact details to discuss with them.
Could be, but more likely to be the earth I would guess as they appear to all be the same size.
Edit
Actually zooming in, each line is insulated so it could be.
We won't really know unless the op discusses it with the DNO
That is a single phase supply, all you can get is a standard 230V supply without changing the pole transformer.
However, you can request two supplies or a single high current one.
So perhaps 100A to the house and another to the farm.
You would need to keep the two supplies separate of course.
I said I could bore people with this rubbish!!!
I just read it myself and realised I shouldn't have said "ionising smell" - I should have said "ozone smell" (ozone is the ionisation of the oxygen in the air)
So I could bore you all to death with this one!
After my first degree, the second project I did was a problem of dielectric breakdown - when it shouldn't have - basically an impulse simulating a lightning strike ~175kV on 24kV switchgear causing the air chamber to break down!
Anyway...
MCCBs can be fitted with several trip units, you need to know which one to see exactly what curve is applicable.
Most have the dial, but even if fixed, you still need the curve
Because it's not the final circuit.
If you are feeding another distribution board, then the feeder needs a disconnection time of 5s
Final circuits it's 0.4s
(Of course there are other times for tt and so on)
TBH on a feeder ideally set it so there is no high set (just the curve section), or...
Exactly my belief as well, as the clowns on many other fora say "pictures or it didn't happen"
In our case it's not whether you informed them or not, it's whether you can prove you informed them.
It probably didn't help his case as he denied seeing anything problematic, yet even a brief look...
I particularly liked his repair of his own oven element one, in fact most of his older ones are great, not too keen on his newer ones, the format has changed, I think it doesn't suit him as much.
They is a guy called David Savery on you tube, he did a bit of an analysis in the early days which may give a bit more details - as long as you don't mind offensive language here is a link:
