    Mig welding and cable run.

Not sure I don't have regs for volt drop with me so if someone can advise on that. 50 M is quite a long way so may have to go up a size in cable

    Mig welding and cable run.

No way it will trip 32A MCB or the 100A fuse presuming the 32A is covered by 32A MCB

    Mig welding and cable run.

150A MIGs I have used in the past have had 13A plugs. Only when going to 160-180 have they needed 16A plugs. I have seen 180A ones on 13A plugs but as soon as you get near the top end of the Amps scale it will blow the 13A fuse. Check your welder as it will say what the input amps are a d then...

How to do a proper insulation test on an electric motor

When working in the motor repairs industry you have to fill in test sheets and keep them for so long. Doing that will do is ok for most things but not for QA record keeping. A lot of large three phase motors and larger DC motors will start off a bit low on the IR then constantly get better as...

UK How do I wire an emergengy stop button to an extension cord?

That should be ok I would have thought. I would prefer a direct online starter with overload protections but it doesn't have to have one just gives extra protection for overload

UK How do I wire an emergengy stop button to an extension cord?

The estop should be used with a relay contractor. You would be better looking for a direct online start stop control box and this may come with estop or you will be able to add it in circuit to work with the internal control circuit

    I've got one somewhere

Went to Cockermouth recently and they have a hardware shop very similar. Even has a museum upstairs with all old tools and stuff. Free to browse round. I could have spent hours just looking at stuff.

    Self test emergency

Could also be the battery you swapped were also duff. I have had very few LED units fail. Out of a few hundred maybe a handful have had to be replaced

    Self test emergency

If three separate units and you have tried different batteries then the faulty units are probably draining to much current. Are the floro or LED. I have replaced a few hundred old units over the last few years at work and we are now all LED. We have dramatically reduced our fail rate.

Recommendation for solar powered lighting, please

A lot available but don't like our short hours of daylight in winter. Most are made for other countries that have more daylight hours to help charge batteries

How to do a proper insulation test on an electric motor

The BS for IR test is to as you say remove links, supply and test each phase. To earth and between phase. A between phase fault won't necessarily show to earth but will still be U/S. As stated anything above 1 meg is just about acceptable. The test should be done for 1 minute and this will allow...
