Dodgy trade pictures for your amusement! - 1 Million Views!

This year I saw a whole brewery wired in. Done by the owner. He asked me to sign it off for him as the insurers were asking for certification. Was very miffed when I said he'd never get me drunk enough to falsely sign a certificate! Also asked me how he could fiddle his meter!

What is your hourly rate as a self employed electrician? (2023)

I charge mileage on top of my hourly/day rate. I have to being in the Highlands. Local for me could easily be a round trip of 300+ miles! I rarely charge an hourly rate due to the distances involved. Personally I think most electricians charge way too little when you look at other professions...

Is there a chance Dual RCD Consumers could be "banned " from rentals soon?

Who knows. Theres been talk that the next Regs edition might start to phase them out. Hard to justify them anymore given the price of an RCBO CU. If it aint broke then leave alone for now i'd say.

    Torque Talk

Which 'scam' are you referring to as I had my NICEIC annual assessment 2 weeks ago and he had no interest in asking about torque screwdrivers at all? We tested at a couple of CU's - continuity and insulation resistance. Removed cables were re-terminated in front of the assessor with no torque...

New rewire and fuse board - views on work.

Agreed. Id I were walking into this as the 2nd spark I'd want control as to what goes on. There must be someone on here that can help? That install needs testing and putting right. The install is dog rubbish and an embarrassment to the trade. I'm with Westward. I haven't fitted a dual RCD board...
