I need a 25mm plain to 20mm screwed conduit adapter.

You don't say galv or PVC..for galv a 25mm coupler with a 25/20 reducer and a 20mm nipple would do it, for PVC glueing a 20mm male adaptor into a 25mm coupler would probably work.

    Smoke alarm regulations

Personally I won't do fixed price work unless there is a clear spec for the job including things like smokes, data, TV whatever else the customer hasn't considered but I feel your pain. I have been caught out similarly before and now seek direct confirmation from the Building inspector involved...

    Smoke alarm regulations

In my experience, just do whatever the building inspector wants, they are often surprisingly fairly uniformed about the minutiae of 'the regs' and can have personal takes on things that are not going to be changed by your research of the actual rules. Do what he wants and he will sign-off. Throw...

Napit.. Do you still choose the job, or do they?

They used to say within 20 mins travel of your 'base' as well (not sure about that now..?) because they wanted to check your office facilities or somesuch as well, which was a challenge for me being somewhat rural.

Napit.. Do you still choose the job, or do they?

I've wondered this as well, I've not had a proper assessment since 2019, although a guy (same bloke from 2019 and a few before that, even when I was with Stroma..) did appear 2 years ago after I found a job that was 'on his way to another one' he didn't hang around long, it was a very big place...

    Quickwire New Product

Just received 6 of the 24A 2 way along with a pen and pencil..! They look useful for altering ring finals in awkward circumstances..time will tell if I actually use them! A wagobox and 3 221s is cheaper by a quid and takes 2 minutes instead of 1. The Hager MF offering is already out of the...

First time I've seen a melt down

Fan heaters..esp those £8 specials are an absolute blight...I've dealt with a couple of burn ups recently with no apparent fault, just low quality carp designed to just barely function within spec.

    Cra*tree

The QC issues I was complaining about have been resolved some time ago, & I am still using Crabtree Capital as my default brand..They are not what they once were but are perfectly serviceable and decent vfm

recommend to replace/upgrade this flush mounted CCU

Only you can decide what is 'ok'..If it was me I would try some modern MK kit first to see if everything fits...mind you the current MK range has very little in common with previous iterations although it looks the same it is now manufactured by others under licence I understand. I would also...

recommend to replace/upgrade this flush mounted CCU

Thinking about it though you could probably re-populate that board to upgrade it 'as-is' but there will be plenty on here who would object...I can almost hear the howls of non-compliance already...

recommend to replace/upgrade this flush mounted CCU

Fusebox do an adapter to convert their CUs to flush fitting, I installed one last year into a stud wall but I imagine also good for solid walls. Looking at it dimensions wise I would imagine 1 of their 15 way (or 14 with surge) MS units (RCBO) would be about right.

    Fast Track Course Worries

I had a guy working for me on a casual basis wanted a career change but I wasn't able to offer him an apprenticeship. He went off and did a fast track and is now working for good money in London. He was very focussed and worked hard and I think you need to do that to succeed via this route...

Modified Y plan for unvented cylinder

I had to wire in an extra 2 port valve today to protect a newly installed unvented cylinder (replacing the old gravity fed one) in a standard Y plan setup. However the wiring centre adjacent to this tank didnt have a permanent live available as the programmer and boiler with supply spur are...

    Rcb 380/s030 Vs 380/a030

https://www.electriciansforums.net/threads/replacement-for-star-breaker-rccb-which-has-failed.208728/ see this thread for discussion on this...in the end I bought a complete board with all the required parts for about £90 plus vat from Rexel and swapped it all over in under an hour leaving me...
