Need some ideas - RCD tripping but everything tests fine....

That is a niche fault, Vortigern! I'll have a look at the strappers, but I can't make it trip by operating the 2 way switching, and it has no effect on the ramp test in either position.

Need some ideas - RCD tripping but everything tests fine....

I don't have a clamp meter but ramp testing with and without everything on shows a cumulative leakage of 4mA difference - this is effectively doing the same as a clamp meter in this case?

Need some ideas - RCD tripping but everything tests fine....

Hi Buzz, no I don't, it's not happening often enough to see. I've IR'd the circuits individually and the RFC sockets shows 8M so it's most likely something on this circuit.

Good idea but no. CH and HW fully functioned - 3-way valve, boiler, pump, all sweet.

Small 2 up 2 down with outhouse. Nothing major really, tested every, inspected everything.

No, nothing new/changed in several months, the problem started about 3 weeks ago.

Need some ideas - RCD tripping but everything tests fine....

Think I'm gonna have to just change the RCD for a new one today and see what happens... 'Tis 5 o'clock after all I'm not convinced it's a faulty RCD though. Please keep any ideas coming, I'll post if swapping RCD fixes it. Cheers guys

Need some ideas - RCD tripping but everything tests fine....

Ramp test with everything on and running 19mA - I've tested loads of RCDs on load like this and never has one tripped out. I agree the most likely cause at the moment is combined leakage when something starts up, I just haven't been able to reproduce it. She also says the RCD was 'tripped'...

Need some ideas - RCD tripping but everything tests fine....

I thought that but I've been here ages and cycled everything on / off. What is bugging me is the ELI test tripping it, never seen that before

Borrowed neutral in lights - Nope. Even if there was, all 5 circuits are on the same RCD so it wouldn't show.

Need some ideas - RCD tripping but everything tests fine....

Hi all, Customer reports sporadic nuisance tripping of RCD. I cannot reproduce it, or fault anything, except SOMETIMES on EFLI test it trips the RCD (megger mft 1553 'no trip' test). I'm out of ideas here, can anyone help? This is what I've got: - TT installation (small domestic); - 30mA RCCB...

    Question about explosion

Hi all, On a similar note - a warning about cheap Li-Ion LED head torches (coz they are brilliantly and I know most of us use them) - mine burst into flames when on charge overnight and set fire to some stuff in my utility room. Me and my family were saved by the trusty AICO smokes I had...

It doesn't need RCD but it wouldn't hurt to have it. Yeah this one is pretty rusty!

Ok, so touching a radiator bonded in the house in no different to touching a lamppost bonded in the garden? Is that what you're getting at?
