Hi,
Yeah, double checked the tails, all good. It has obviously to with the lighting strike. Just wanted to know why exactly it would cause the arking and the high ZE??. My supervisor just said they had to contact the provider.
hi,
As the title states. Earlier in the week I was sent to a property to do a routine EICR test. When I arrived at said property I was informed that it had recently been struck by lighting! The lighting had split the roof pearling, and done substantial damage to the roof trusses, before finding...
Hi,
There are a few things that are there to trip you up,such as:
Motor has a loose connection in to the contactor, 95 terminal
Follow the brief they mix up all different breakers and cable.
Use a cable tie to secure the cat5 cable in the data jack, you will fail the whole install of not...
No, it’s not a spur. I am fully qualified time spent sparky. Have been for 8 years now. I mainly do commercial projects, when I have wired in hand dryers usually on there own radial circuits. I am fully aware that you can’t spur from a spur. I will admit when it comes
To domestic work I probably...
He is just using it in his bathroom at his house. It’s not like it’s in pub or anything like that. There is no other load on the RFC really. So,you think it would be acceptable to run 2.5mm spur from the RFC? It’s only about 1m from the socket to the FCU.
HI everyone,
Is it acceptable to wire a hand dryer from a ring final in to a 13 amp FCU. The ring main in question has 30MA RCD protection.
Or, is it best to wire a new radial circuit for it??
There is a socket I can spur off that is easy to get to.
Thanks
Good advice, much appreciated!
One more thing. Is it best practice in the test to to leave the earth cpcs connected when doing a continuity test. E.g. when testing from the DOL to the motor, or so they prefer to remove the cores? For example I would link out say l1 and earth at the motor ( they...
I keep going over and over everything. It’s all there. Just hope the pressure of the exam conditions doesn’t cloud my thinking and I make a stupid mistake!!.
I think your correct good nights kip and a straight head. Thanks again for the advice
Hi all,
Been posting on here quite a bit the last couple of weeks, been really helpful and good advice.
I am sitting my am2 next week. Just wondering if any one has any advice? What to expect from fault finding etc. Thanks
Cheers for your advice. Much appreciated. Would you diconnect the cables from the dol to motor and test them, or would it be ok to leave them connected?
You just need to teatbthe cable you pulled in. It is a 3 core and earth. So, just test all phases to earth from the dol to motor. There would be no need to disconnect then cables then?
Cheers
When doing a ir test on the cables you have pulled in from the dol to the motor, is it best to test from the dol side to motor or the motor side back to the dol?
I am just finishing my nvq3 got my am2 in May. I went to night college for a couple of years. But, to do my 3rd year (portfolio) I have used quickstep. You gather all evidence and submit it online. To be qualified you need your nvq 3. No fast route really. Just have to bite the bullet. It is...
i have my am2 coming up soon. Was just curious as to how you test the dol tobthe motor after doing the global IR test, testing strappers and ring etc. Do you test from the dol going to the motor, or from the motor to the DOL, or does it matter?
Any advice would be great. I have used this forum...
hi all,
I have my am2 coming up. Just going over a few things. I am correct in saying that the Gas bonding would terminate in to the clamp below the joint, and not above it?
Also, I was going to use one continuous length of 10mm is this allowed, or is it better practice to use to lengths?
Regards
