    Stranded cable should not be tightened under a screw, it damages the strands. The ferrule keeps the strands together and then the screw tightens onto the ferrule which stops the strands splaying, breaking or twisting.

    Correct. My mistake, well spotted. I think I was getting to direction and went off at a tangent. With conduit we take the earth from the backbox with T&E we take an earth to it.

    When I can, I change TT CU’s to RCBO’s. I don’t really like one central RCD that trips the entire installation. I don’t really get how the overhead TT line could be changed to PME, certainly not in my location.
