    mild tingling in certain scenarios

Further to my earlier post - I found information from Apple. This is linked primarily to the charger having a metal earth pin rather than the plastic ones. The Apple charger DO have a metal earth pin - so situation is worse (but not dangerous) with a plastic one, depending on who you trust to...

DNO fuse - who can remove it?

That's a really good point... wiggling 80A fuses is not a good idea even when you can.

DNO fuse - who can remove it?

This is documented in 7671 pretty clearly. See the note after 537.1.3 - only when authorised by the DNO

    16th ed unsheathed cables

Just another thought. Let’s say that the initial work was done in accordance with say 16th and cert issued. This is the cert being compared against now. How do we know that the downlighters were not changed since then and the work (and connectors) was not the work done by the certifying sparks.

    16th ed unsheathed cables

This is a good thread, one that could take up days of debating at the IET. We understand the regulations are not retrospective but here we asking to confirm that when it was installed, it did comply at the time with the past regs (for warranty). In these days of litigation why pay for a rewire...

3 phase Static inverter Without a Neutral

I would offer some caution here, research needed. I’m thinking of the isolation (separating supply and output), these shouldn’t be joined. They are not the same and wouldn’t be common. See Delta vs Star vs delta + Star connections (the latter will have a neutral output). My understanding (and...

    mild tingling in certain scenarios

Apple have details about this on their site (can try and find a link if needed). From what I remember it’s more noticeable using a charger (usb plug) with a plastic earth pin (they call it ground). Most of Apples (charger plug earth pins) are metal and connect to the case. You wouldn’t notice...

    Cowboy Electricians and Installation Certificates

You are probably right about B&Q, I stand corrected ;) I didn’t feel that the OP jumped in with both feet in his first post but there was a lot of presuming... maybe I’m saying it’s the presuming / assuming that’s the problem. Lesson from decades ago was never assume, it makes an --- out of U...

    Help wiring Garage Consumer Unit

Why put a ring anyway - designed decades ago, old hat. I would consider radial sockets in 2.5 but you must replace the 32A MCB with 20A; design depends on the required socket load. As Pete999 states 1.5 for the lights, also in radial.

Sticky line running up wall from sockets and switches?

The lines only appear where the cable runs are. I’m thinking that a different plaster / filler was used for these runs which were added after the original plastering was done. If not then something is reacting - earlier capping corrosion advice seems good as is plasticiser reaction. I would be...

    Cowboy Electricians and Installation Certificates

Really interesting reading through this entire thread. There is some good helpful advice and some unhelpful comments. The OP may well have left but he came here asking for advice, thoughts and suggestions; the whole point of this forum. It’s easy to play the experience card and put people down...

Anyone uses a Yankee screwdriver in this trade

I bought one recently at a boot fair, remembering how wonderful they were in years past! Never used it and realised that when they were wonderful there wasn't a cordless anything to compare it to. Great kit but probably best left to the past with meggers that had winding handles. ;)
