    Dressing in 10mm cables

I remember when I first started I hated 10mm, could never get it right first time, constantly defeated ha. Soon get to a point where you get it just right every time.

New tool bag time, any recommendations?

Spoilt for choice, thanks for all the options guys. Just not sure which to go for now. The Veto looks good, but as already said, I don’t want to spend that much and get it and not like it..

New tool bag time, any recommendations?

My CK tool bag/tote is literally falling apart and has only lasted a year, strap snapped countless times, pockets Velcro tears off when opening pockets, bits fall off. Shocking quality, my first B&Q bag lasted longer ha. Does anybody have any recommendations for a new one? I like the look of...

Part P training . It must be stopped

I’d guess (and I maybe wrong) that the majority of fully qualified electricians will agree with this poll as they did it their way and see a domestic installer as inferior to them and possibly clueless. But what some people may forget, there are a number of “fully qualified” electricians out...

Which domestic Consumer Unit and why?

I fit mainly Wylex, I agree with above, great for dressing. I also like Crabtree too. Fitted MK on two occasions and it just felt bad, slanty MCBs is definitely a big problem.

Part P training . It must be stopped

I’m sorry but if you think a 6 or 23 day course or whatever it was, is going to automatically give someone the knowledge and confidence to go and attempt to work in somebody’s home the next day, you’re deluded.

    Am I allowed to test

I would like to think I fall into the latter, I'm no where near as qualified as half of the people on here (one day I'd like to be) but I am certainly competent in what I do, I've been in the trade for over 5 years now and often come across jobs where other electricians have been in and done a...

Asked to provide an Electrical Installation Certificate after 2 years as a statement of safety

Its easy, you just make up lots of random numbers and if you don't know the answer LIM will suffice :D

Strangest thing you have found in a property?

Not me personally but a friend rang me last Friday to say he found £5000 in old £50 notes underfloor boards, still in the banks paper bands. Pretty nice find.

looking for a new MFT tester

I was "brought up" on fluke and I love fluke, however I've just bought a Di Log as it was offered to me dirt cheap, I'm still undecided with it. Don't get me wrong the features are great and it works well, but I still miss my fluke for some reason :D

I had to take a second look when I seen this

My NIC assessor was telling me about the craziest one he saw, I can't explain it in detail as he did because I can't fully remember, but it goes along the lines of.. He went to investigate a DNO neutral fault on a caravan park I'm sure he said, turned out to be someone had wired up a thermostat...

    Most difficult fault

Most annoying one I've had, intermittent tripping of RCD. Went round the same day and tested, everything was fine, hadn't tripped since the early hours, I put it down to perhaps a faulty appliance of some kind. The couple unplugged a load of appliances and we left it overnight, the next...

Two gang light switch odd wiring

I'm guessing we can't see the full picture, probably a feed in/out.
