Plastic Switchgear Enclosures - Acceptable in barn?

Is the price difference between plastic/metal CU fairly substantial? I haven't looked at plastic for a while.

Plastic Switchgear Enclosures - Acceptable in barn?

Same interpretation as you. If it was me personally, I'd go metal as it's attached to a house/dwelling. :)

    Torque VDE driver sets.........

I have the full Armeg set, have used it now for roughly 2 years and I love it, not broke any of the ends. Excellent bit of kit in my opinion and ideal when testing, just carry the box and my tester box instead of lugging my tool bag in :)

    Help with Range cooker..

I didn't see the previous cooker, it was disconnected by builders. It was a 6mm/32a supply.

    Help with Range cooker..

Yes, ordinary domestic kitchen, it's ridiculous. I am going to try and explain to them tomorrow morning that in the nicest possible way, it's ridiculous. I've gone for 10mm/45a or maybe 50a. Ref method C. The tails from head to meter are now 16mm, I'm sure when I originally looked at the job...

    Help with Range cooker..

Infact ignore me, screaming 7 month old and trying to type doesn't quite work.. The immersion heater is going, so forget that.

    Help with Range cooker..

Diversity applied to cooker as you say is roughly 30 amps. There are 2 ring circuits, 2 lighting, 16a radial and an immersion heater. No electric shower, oil heating and no other big loads. I may we'll be being over cautious here, after doing a walk around and applying diversity based on...

    Help with Range cooker..

I'm in the process of re wiring a kitchen, the customer has gone with a Smeg Range cooker with a nominal rating of 19.5kw, the circuit is all in, that doesn't worry me. However the DNO has been out to renew the service head as it was in a poor state, in doing this they have downgraded the cut...

Best Value/Brand tools for when just starting out

I made the mistake of buying cheap as an apprentice and ended up replacing literally all of it as time went by. I now usually just buy CK for hand tools and they seem to last well. Can you not speak to your wholesaler? Mine always hook me up great deals on CK stuff.

If you lose a tool do you panic and go OCD?

I'm pretty bad for this, I have left tools on jobs before and been gutted for a day or so about it ha.

Anybody have experience with DiLog DL9118 MFT?

As above really, my wholesalers has it on offer for a good price, they say it's made by Megger, all appears well. But what is it like to use.. Does anybody have any experience with one? I've come from a Fluke, which I like but is near double the price, so it's tempting.

Help with pricing for council wetrooms..

What would you think would be reasonable to counter the items above? I am friendly with the contractor, but I was almost a bit insulted after sitting down and going through it.

Help with pricing for council wetrooms..

Sorry, its supply and fit. I'll just post up the average bits for now that would be the spec for the majority of wetrooms.. Labour, cable & switchgear: Wire in shower circuit in 10mm cable, including trunking: £55 45amp pull cord: £14 6amp light pull cord: £4.50 Fitting extractor fan: £26...

Help with pricing for council wetrooms..

Hi, Hoping someone can help me on a pricing issue, if that's allowed. I'm looking at taking on some work wiring council wetrooms (shower, light, extractor fan, etc). The price list I've been given is pretty poor, the prices are seriously low in my opinion. I wondered if there was someone on...

Shower upgrade on a very old consumer unit

I have no issue fitting a 2 way if needs be, however a 10mm cable in a Wylex 2 way with RCBO/s, is a horrible job, it's a real struggle to get everything to fit neatly. Stoopid things.
