Hi, I've been asked if i could disconnect the above and then reconnect it as the pillar it is mounted on is being replaced. Would anyone be able to tell me what is involved as it isn't something I am familiar with? Is it a case of just disconnecting the unit and then reconnecting or is there...
I was in a similar position about 2 years ago. Thankfully I already had a good selection of tools and organisers etc however even now I keep buying new bits. Cash flow is one of the hardest things to manage when you start off. To be an efficient you'll need to keep a good range of stock on your...
I use YESSS for most of my basics and then a local independent as they are spot on with their customer services. Also occasionally use screwfix for convenience.
I use SBS Dave when i do any all RCBO boards as the price is good. Not had a problem yet although there was an issues with the boards he was stocking as the knockouts were terrible but he's changed supplier now and they are much better. Really good bloke to deal with and would certainly...
I did a similar job a few weeks ago with x3 400w MH fittings on a 2m length of unistrut. It was on a wooden pole and I fixed it to the wood with some large coach screws. I then used two right angled brackets to support it further and stop it from twisting. I then bolted the lights to the strut...
It wants testing before hand to determine if there are any extraneous conductive parts. As for the board that's already there, that existing swa feeding it wants terminating properly. You might have already covered this so apologies if so.
Depends whats in the kitchen, bathroom and extra room. Wall heaters, electric shower, oven?
1. 6mm swa gland at house CU from 32 amp mcb without rcd to the outside plastic waterproof junction box to reconnect to existing 6mm swa. Will that be ok? See 2
2. Would you gland both swa cables at the...
For most boards I do id say it tends to be either bottom or side entry and i use a 32mm stuffing gland. In all honesty I think tail glands are a bit of a con although the griploc one looks reasonable. If it was top entry i would use one to maintain IP4X. I wouldn't want to use a grommet as they...
Yeah but the reply was "we don't use them much anyway"
That's correct no rcd
The board is merlin gerin and looks quite tidy so I'd imagine the outside additions are most likely DIY as I doubt a first year apprentice wouldn't even churn out that rubbish.
need far more information. Have you insulation resistance tested to the electrical main earth or to the earth of the micc? What does the cable feed? Could there be a crossed neutral? Is the RCBO faulty (disconnection times met and ramp test)
