It's not clear cut as I read it. If you were to ask HMRC, I suggest they would say a replacement inverter is standard rated. It's a [whole] system that consists of panels with cabling, control panel and inverter that is reduced rated when installed.
Resurrecting an old thread but I have had another immersion heater break wth an Immersun, the immersion having been previously replaced two years ago. I think the problem is that the plumber used the cheapest possible copper sheathed immersion (the client had the box). With immersions that are...
Sgt Woulds,
I think there has been some misunderstanding.
From what the OP said, there are 2 mcbs on the shower CU, a 45A one for the shower and a 16A one for the PV. So the PV is on its own final circuit and does not need changing from that perspective. Between the Shower CU and Main CU...
I agree with what Gavin says.
There is a risk that you are chasing rainbows trying to match the pre sales forecast. What was that forecast? I cannot see it in your original post.
I do not think the DNO will be worried, but from memory the FIT supplier will, because changing the panels potentially changes the TIC as the FIT suppliers define it.
The answer must be:
- read the letter giving authority to generate in parallel. (Here, WPD issue one.)
- read the FIT contract
On the two immersions, it was definitely the elements that had gone as I had access to the terminals.
On the thermostat, the backup had tripped a few times and been reset by the client a few times before the thermostat went open circuit. I could not tell for sure which bit of the thermostat...
I have had x3 faults appear recently on plumbing/electrical systems to which I have fitted Immersun:
- A Cotherm immersion on a Megaflow cylinder went open circuit after about 2 years of Immersun use. Needed to be drained and new immersion fitted.
- A Cotherm immersion on an Albion cylinder...
I am still not convinced Gavin, because although I take your point that certain combinations of generated power, kettle power and voltage could work as you describe, most times when voltage is high will be bright sunshine with good output from the panels that has a good chance of covering the...
Re: 31st March deadline for FIT applications for systems with MCS cert issued <16th J
Forgive me being lazy, but have you spotted anything similar for domestic or non-domestic rhi?
Snake oil by the look of it. I would be happy to be shown some evidence to the contrary, but my feeling is that in domestic circumstances, voltage optimisation is unlikely to produce significant savings given the design of modern appliances and lighting. Even the example they quote of the...
Yes, it is A. I do not have the link to hand but there is a standard published which states that meters should be programmed to do the sum net across the phases. I think it has been cited here before.
SWA is designed for direct burial, but not permanent immersion. In most situations a bit of earth leakage is not critical, but in the OP's case it was.

Re: Flloded Ducting and Low RIso
If you look at the standards and manufacturers specs you will find that T&E and SWA are NOT designed to be underwater permanently because they do absorb water. You need a more specialised cable. Google pond cable for starters, although if we are talking string...
