They have fixed rate for inverters/optimisers etc, but you have to be known to them to be eligible. Last time I did an optimiser it was £105. Peanuts. The 2 good things were I could see which one was broken online and I was able to walk out onto the roof to replace it in minutes few. I did...
I have replaced 4 optimisers in the last year and SE have always responded promptly, say within 24 hours. Do not forget sunday is a working day for them but not saturday.
Contact solar edge direct as the warranty is 25 years. They will send out a new one. However they may want you to have an installer stood by to fit it. They will also want to look at the optimiser over the internet to confirm the diagnosis.
Only if the expenses are in the course of a business, in which case the income is then not income/corporation tax free.
All the guidance is doing is confirming the approach that I suspect most were taking anyway, but at least it gives some authority for that approach.
As we are approaching the deadline for 2014/15 income tax returns I was wondering whether RHI income in a domestic scenario should be declared on a tax return?
The Government introduced specific legislation to make FIT income tax free, but has not made similar provision for RHI income as...
If a new CU is going in then my suggestion put everything in there for neatness unless there is a good reason for extra boxes. The PV will require one way for a mcb, preferably not rcd protected if the cabling can be designed that way. I have often put a din rail meter inside the CU as well to...
Rushng out now, but at first sight i do not see that limiting output of a SE 4000/5000/6000 would affect the maximum on the input. The right person on the phone or email at SE could clarify.
Yes it is me over there.
Oversizing note:

looks like there is some flexibility to operate outside recommendations but might blow warranty.
I agree with Gavin it will be a single installation for fit purposes. But unless they have doubled up the cabling to each cabin you will need a separate meter for each phase sited in the cabins. Also depending on the load profile you might lose some of the advantage of 3-phase net (across the...
I have been asked to quote for about 7 kW PV on a single storey commericial building in a town. The x4 roof areas all slope at about 10 degrees to the horizontal. It has many characteristics of a flat roof rather than a pitched roof (no apex). No time for planning permission so want to meet...
Looks like both those suggestions would work. The theoretical maximum power is a bit high but that will not be an issue until the spring by which time you can have swapped to 3 phase.
I thiink a few will take the power (SMA & ABB) but not the voltage as a single string. Perhaps run some temp cables from the roof externally to split string into two?
I have had a reply from the IET moderators saying they have drawn Richard Townsend's attention to the thread on the IET website so hopefully we willl soon understand his thinking.
For those that enjoy the detail of accounts, I thought I would close this thread down by answering my own question about the vat position.
When you bill ABB for a warranty claim, you bill ABB UK therefore you add and they pay you VAT.
When you bill Solar Edge (I have had x3 warranty claims...
I agree with that! Perhaps I had been reading things out of order - I have posted sometimes without refreshing so others have got in first which messes up the flow.
I see I am not reading closely enough. My response #33 was in response to Sibert's which has not been deleted but is on a...
My last comment above was in response to a post that has been deleted, so is looking a bit lonely now, but with no way to edit/delete.
For Ted: Rarely do I disagree with you, but to my mind the function question comes after being switchgear in the first place. I do not see how a single...
I had thought of that but there did not seem an 100% clear answer. There is no 7671 definition of main or auxilliary switching but would they meet the definition of an accessory or switchgear. I incline to the former if not 'main and auxilliary switching'.
