Hi folks,
I just wondered if anyone has come across or worked upon Enviwarm heaters before?
I was at client's house the other day, just finishing off, getting ready to go on to my next job. They said "while you're here...., can you see if you can fix my heating please?" I say "Okaaayyy, I'll...
As someone else mentioned it's usually something simple like that. I had a beauty the other week:
It was a big house with one end used as an annexe (let out).
There was a dual RCD board for the main house and another dual RCD board for the annexe. I attended the callout and found nuissance...
Yes, another possible reason for advising a board change there. BS3036 fuses are still a recognised means of protection of course, but each job assesd on it's merits. Then options presented to client. There's nothing wrong with that, surely?
Yes, they just want our money really. Another point worth mentioning is that CG2391 isn't the only way of becoming competent in inspection and testing. Which is another reason why it isn't insisted upon.
Obviously it depends on the situation. If someone asks you " I have a re-wireable fusebox, does it need changing" Then the answer is no.....Unless, are they having alterations and additions to their installation? Do these alterations require RCD protection? Then quite possibly a board change is...
I would suggest linking the electrodes throughout. The intake is TT, so there is no reason to have seperate equipotential zones. Also consider discrimination of RCDs.
I will certainly give them a look nd maybe a phone call. I'm genuinely interested in other people's experiences with other scheme providers.
Thanks for that
For me it's just about treating people the way you would like to be treated, basic manners one man to another, whether I'm paying or not. If someone thinks it should be moved then go for it, I'm not worried who sees it, no names mentioned anyway. I'm also perfectly happy with being picked up on...
Cakey - I should be more like that, I'm crap at complaining! It's like if you complain about your starter in a restaurant, I worry that my main cousre will then be laced with the chef's special sauce or the like!
I feel that if I complain, he might be even more picky and horrible next time.
I...
Hi folks
Hope you don't mind but I could with a bit of a rant following yesterdays niceic visit.
In some ways it couldnt have gone any better, everything was in order both in terms of paper work and on the jobs we looked at. He made one or two nit-picky comments, fair enough, I don't really...
Oh also; I carried out continuity tests between the neutrals of this cable and the rest of the neutral bar (main switch off) and got greater than 2000 ohms. I did the same with the live of the cable and the other lighting lives, in their corresponding circuit breakers and also got greater than...
Hey folks
Doing a PIR for someone the other day. This is for a guy who did the wiring for his own extension. his story was that the electrical company sent to him by the local building control came to look at the 1st fix but wouldn't return for final test and sign off. Building control asked...
TN-C system not IT , thats what i meant.
The thing is this was probably done by someone who knew what they were doing otherwise how would they know that the light would work.
Thanks for replies
Thanks
I could be wrong but in the past (well before my time) this was known as an IT system. Where the neutral was connected to the cpc at the point of utilisation. Or did I just make that up? sure I've heard something like that before..... Maybe someone will know.......
Hey folks
Saw a naughty one the other day. I went to replace a 2 gang light switch for someone. One of the switches was for the lounge light (fair enough) the other switch was for an outside light, that appeared to have been installed relatively recently (new colours). There was no neutral at...
