Sangamo timers - are they worth the money/

Hi folks, Just wondered if anyone is a regular user of Sangamo timers. I need to replace one, only because the cable cover on the bottom is missing, exposing non sheathed cables. Having looked at the prices £100 + depending on model, I'm wondering if they are worth the money or if a cheaper...

Are there any heating wizards out there? If so, Please Help! Thanks

Yeah, there is the usual stuff. it's just that there is an odd stat on the wall in the boiler room which in turn is connected to a pipe stat, this is confussing me. To tell the truth, I think I'm over thinking this. So, I'm gonna go chill out with a cuppa and tackle this in the morning with a...

Thanks sedgy34, But how can it switch the boiler on if it makes contact on temperature rise. For frost protection it would need to make on temperature fall, would it not? this is why I'm confussedand****ed off.com

Are there any heating wizards out there? If so, Please Help! Thanks

Thanks Old Timer, Wonder if I didn't explain very well..... It definately does not have any temperature optimization controls. Just a a digital programmer. I was thrown by the existing 'make on temperature rise' stat and pipe stat in the boiler room. It is a domestic job. I'm happy wiring...

Are there any heating wizards out there? If so, Please Help! Thanks

Evenin all, Ok, Fairly confident with S plans, Y plans, UFH and the like but today I came accross a wiring situation that I did not understand and had not seen before. Unless I ask someone I'm going to lay awake worrying about it and that just won't do.... I'm basically re-wiring someones...

DEVI mat, best way to fix?

Hey folks, Ive got a couple of large devi mats to lay next week. I've done plenty of the smaller ones and usually just held the edge down with duct tape. Ive got to fit these 2 large mats onto a concrete floor and wondered if anyone had a prefered method of fixing them down? The day after ive...

    Unusual RCD problem

Had a similar problem to this recently. A big house with an annexe. House on one RCD, the annexe on another. Thought to be completely seperate wiring. A fault was causing both RCDs to trip similtaneously. Turned out to be a faulty outside light on the house side. In addition some wise guy...

    Enviwarm

Thanks Top Cat, It was a few weeks ago now and I didn't spend long on it, but what I did find was a 230 volt incoming supply. They had a room thermostat and that was switching a supply back ok. There are a couple of biggish contactors in there that remained de-energised when the stat was...

17th edition electrician signing off work

When you apply to one of the Part P scheme providers they will set out what you need to do. They will be looking for up to date qualifications, public liability insurance and they will of course ask you for money! Try googling a couple, Napit, Elesca, NICEIC. They will most likely have the info...

rcbo only resets when other mcb is off

Are there any other existing circuits on the board that you have put these on? If so, have you tested IR on these circuits? I know that it shouldn't be relevant but RCBOs are only single pole, any N - E short could be causing it to behave strangley. Maybe clutching at straws here............but...

    ground source heat pump!?

I have done one recently too, although not quite as complex as the one described above. The two things I would say is 1) Get as much system info beforehand as possible. It might be that the manufacturer/supplier of the kit has designed a system layout and maybe even a wiring diagram too. 2) If...

rcbo only resets when other mcb is off

I hope not to offend with this question - Is the RCBO wired correctly? Easy to forget and put the circuit neutral into the neutral bar instead of into the RCBO. That could cause this to happen. Whenever I have come across instantaneous RCD or RCBO operation in relation to another circuit being...
