Hi Folks, sorry for not getting back sooner, only just got back online. Almost thought I was back...

PVC twin & earth & water

Interesting. But could that have been down to exposure to sun rather than water?

PVC twin & earth & water

Exactly. The whole point of using PVC is its properties of durability and as according to Des 56s' new word "Unpenetrability".

PVC twin & earth & water

Yeah thats what I thought. SWA has PVC sheath, although tougher than that of t & e generally and it lays in the ground where it is wet. The guy who i was speaking to seemed to think that it will rot in water over a period of a few years. I think he may have been a muppet.

PVC twin & earth & water

Evenin all Just a bit of an odd ball question here following a discussion i had today. PVC twin & earth - If it is exposed to moisture or is laying in water over a long period of time, can this have a deteriorating effect on the cable sheath Many thanks

    Interference

Thanks so far. The parallel runs are generally seperate. They may run along side for a few inches in places but with a couple of inches apart. Elsewhere when running parallel they are around 6 inches apart. The TV cables are screened but the Cat 6, alarms, speakers & telephones are not. I have...

switch fuse in a meter cabinet, what can i get away with?

Hi to all (warning, long post). Ive got a job im working on where there are six consumer units remote from the meter positions, each meter is in its own standard external meter cabinet. The supplies are all 60amp single phase, so i have wired them in 16mm twin & earth. In the past i have...

Free safety checks, then scaring customers into having work done.

Yeah matt alright isnt really helping. In alot of cases replacing the consumer unit is a good idea. i think comes down to the way you tell people. such as suggesting various options and let them make an informed choice. rather than say, you have to have this done or else something really bad...
