    Diversity calls check please........

Why have you included a picture of a rotary isolator? What role is that going to play? Please tell me it is instead of a 45A cooker isolator

    Chasing walls.....weapon of choice.

Obviously you guys do not come accross beach pebble or Marland brick, both very common around here. Both require diamond cutting disks and then grinding disks. Beach pebbles can deflect a drill bit when drilling through a wall causing it to jam, have had to cut a few off and leave them in the wall

    Electric shower query

Some showers have an internal 'channel' for top entry as a cable route which diverts water away from where it shouldn't be. Having said that it doesn't sound 100%!

    Downlights - GU10 or Sealed units .........

I take the view that with sealed units as the manufacturers know what is going to be in them, then they are able to state whether the units can be covered with insulation. If this is important or a possible consideration I recommend sealed units. Having said that .....JCC FLEDs are proving an...

Does anybody know of a make of crocodile clip to fit on standard test leads (in my case Metrel) which do not leap off the terminal as soon as you a) look away or b) press the test button on the meter.

How Mobile Phone Signal Boosters Work

M Isn't that what the problem is? If the amplifier goes into oscillationthen (apart from the local interference), the tower is unable to deal with this very high signal level and adjusts everything down. A bit like the automatic gain control on a tv tuner when it receives high signal levels...

    DP Isolator - How much???!!!

Well, yes, partly. He is actually a really nice helpful person and yes he is quoting the company line. I did feel slightly awkward for him as my youngest is one of his seniors! However I gather there must have been an incident as they are all gloving up and donning flash guard visors even for...

    DP Isolator - How much???!!!

No they don't. It was a network planner who told me the £70 fee and he is one of the people that prices jobs. He was telling me how I shouldn't pull fuses, the dangers involved and the potential consequences all for the sake of saving £70

    DP Isolator - How much???!!!

Think you have been misquoted. I was told £70 the other day (as the guy was sealing up the cutout fuse that had been visited by the seal fairy!!). WPD

Advice for garage wiring and price

Almost everything you have mentioned has high inrush demand on start up. Your electrician will need to design a circuit so that your mcb(s) do not trip when machines start. Give the whole job over to your electrician to design as they see fit. State the nature of the machines and leave the rest...
