    My mum used to be housing officers the stories she can tell wpuld make your hair stand on end. A few years ago she had a border type she dealing with. When inspecting the property all the old electrical accessories had been left in place after the rewire, sparkie must of just buggered off pronto.

    The fire place is the centre of the room because that's where whoever installed decided they wanted it. While a lot of LL can rb a hole sounds like yours is allright. But if you want to change things it's up to pay for the changes not your LL.

    LED Panels in a barn... yay or nay?

    Its all to do with the earth potential rise. When you have a fault current the point at which the fault current flow to ground is at higher potential than the surrounding ground. Further apart you legs are the greater the potential.

    How can I make downlighters ‘warmer’

    Problem with me LEDs is that the frequency if light they emit is quite specific compared to halogens so just using filters to cut try and make them warmer won't work as the warmer frequency of light just are simple not there. Best bet is to buy new stick the olds ones of eBay.

    auto transformer will produce a 180degree phase shift but you would just shift your phases over to maintain the correct phase alignment.

    We don't do phasing on our HV kit at work but college we where always told it, Phase to Phase should have zero volts even at medium voltages.
