It always astonishes me how little time and effort people put in when buying a £400k house. They've probably only been inside twice at most, less than half hour total. They spend more time choosing a new jumper!!
And whilst they'll happily cough £1,000 for the lenders "valuation" because they...
Nope, didn't forget. Yes I have a story (don't we all:wink:) but have also asked a number of questions in my posts, all relating to advice on qualifications, e.g......
I have been trying to work out from all the info out there what I might need to get qualified and/or certified to be able to do...
I'm going to be doing mainly Loxone systems.
I'm about to do my own home as part of an extension/refurb project and the amount of mains wiring involved is relatively small and I could easily do it myself other than the fact I'm not "qualified".
Operating as a new business I don't think it will...
Thanks all.
I have no intentions of becoming a full time sparks with a full range of electrical services on offer. I'm not setting up an electrical contracting business and have no intention of working for anyone else, been there done that - too much hassle. I'm trying to move into...
It seems to me that the only suggestions are for some form of apprenticeship. Realistically that's not an option for me being that I have a family, a mortgage and other responsibilities and very much are not in my twenties any longer!
At the risk of annoying several people, I'm not a numpty...
Am currently extending house and will be installing a smart home system throughout. My builder's sparks will be doing whatever is required to comply with regs etc.
I'm also intending to operate the smart home installation stuff as a bit of a future career change/semi retirement business...
Yeah, that was my big concern too, hence I thought splitting it across a number of PSU's might be more sensible.
Sorry, didn't give you enough info - loads are all 24v and 30A (less than 800w) is the maximum assuming I switch every single light and LED strip on at the same time at maximum...
In my current smart home project I have a total load in the panel of around 30A. Should I just use one big PSU rated at 30A or split the load across say three 10A PSU's?
Priceless off topic diversion earlier.....:laughing: Sadly its over 30 years since I could have any sort of "hair" style...!!!
With the exception of mains to the PSU's and a couple of relays it's all 24v
I'm going to be wiring up a smart home panel in a couple of weeks using mainly 0.5mm tri-rated cable and wondered what the view is on using crimped ferrules on the ends of the cables to fit into the screw terminals of the various components.
Seems like a good way to avoid poor connections with...
Thanks for the kind words guys, have always found "specialist" forums very useful and this looks the same......
@Spoon - I'm using Loxone stuff and to start with will be using it for lighting, heating and security. Later I'll probably add music and home cinema stuff too. (ps - nice to see...
Hiya
About to do some extension and refurb work on the house and looking to fit a smart home system. Builder's sparks will do the mains wiring bits but the other stuff I'll be doing myself as I'm reasonably handy but also a bit OCD which drives tradesmen nuts (sorry!!).
Anyhow, seems like a...
