Replacing fused spur and hard wired kitchen appliance (fridge freezer) with a standard plug socket

Thanks for reply. Much appreciated, Thats what i was thinking re the socket- Im sure I wired the plug correctly-do you mean the switch on the plug (if it was on -would that've affected it when I changed it ) or the spur switch? I didn't do any work to the spur one- I even replaced the fuse on...

Replacing fused spur and hard wired kitchen appliance (fridge freezer) with a standard plug socket

It hadn't tripped- was on the same circuit as the kitchen sockets and they were/are all fine.

Replacing fused spur and hard wired kitchen appliance (fridge freezer) with a standard plug socket

DIY'er here... After my fridge failed (less than 5 years old) I replaced with a new one. The old one was hard wired in a wall socket connected to a fused spur above the fridge. So I replaced the hard wired socket with a normal plug in one. When I switched the electric back on, the fused spur...

Dishwasher stopped working, so opened it up...

Ah, ok- great info . Will get a new microswitch off ebay (they are less than a tenner) today and replace that also. Still better than an engineer or new machine ! Thanks again.

Dishwasher stopped working, so opened it up...

Update- got the wires stripped and crimp connected- but still no joy. Could it be the reddy brown terminal that the wires connect to (on the door catch) ? i could by a new door catch and try that, or even a new terminal board (for £30)- though that seems undamaged. Dishwasher has been great and...

Dishwasher stopped working, so opened it up...

I suspect it was the connector loose (or the idc connection with the wire?), not the microswitch. Makes sense as for a few weeks it would go on and off when moving the outside panel. I thought it could've been a loose wire, but never got round to looking at it, until now. cheers

Dishwasher stopped working, so opened it up...

Thanks for the advice. I have sourced a microswitch at around £10-15. I will look into getting a connector or if not try the crimp tool you suggest. Would you know what the correct name of a connector like that is ? Also, do you you reckon it is because the microswitch failed that caused the...

Dishwasher stopped working, so opened it up...

I understand the red plastic bit (door catch microswitch bit) can be replaced, but my question is more about the white, burnt out terminal thing (sorry dont know the correct term) and if that is what the faulty bit is/was ?

Hello all, Hoptpoint FDL570 was cutting in and out of power- opened it up and saw this... Can I replace the burnt out bit rather than replacing the whole machine? Thanks in advance

Dimplex Quantum storage heater 150 - keeps melting 20amp double pole switch

Follow up- Replaced the melted switch and so far so good. I only have the storage heater and the hot water tank on E7, looks like it goes from the water tank to switch and then on to heater. The hot water switch gets hot (but doesnt melt) and I have tightened up connections there also, but still...

Dimplex Quantum storage heater 150 - keeps melting 20amp double pole switch

Had a quantum (qm150) installed for 8 years - no problem. Couple of weeks ago the switch (usually always on except when on holiday) stuck and no power to heater. Had a look at switch and saw it was melted where the N wire goes in. Bought an exact replacement (B+Q) and replaced myself with the...
