In my example would an RCD have to be installed to make the new additinal socket compliant with current regs or this unecessary?

Part P Building Regs addition of socket

Hi Forum Struggling to get my head round interrupting the Building regulations The building regulations 4(3) require that on completion of work in an existing building, the building should comply with the current building regulations, or if it did not comply before the work began, be no worse...

    3 Phase presentation

I think it was the lack of a neutral out of the VFD that lead me to believe it was Delta only supply. I now realise a two shorting links between w2 u2 and v2 on the motor can be used to adjust the motor windings to be driven in the Star arrangement.

    3 Phase presentation

Hi Darkwood I think a lot of my confusion has come after looking at VFD and other converters. At first I though a single ph input VFD could produce a 400v delta or star output. Got a bit more understanding of single ph input VFD and their 230v delta output, big error I then transferred this...

    3 Phase presentation

Hi Darkwood Thanks for your comments, things are not as complicated as I thought they might be. I now remember reading about the star delta starter, but did not realise the Star (690v) was actually the normal 400V 3ph. "The 400v/690v motor is commonly known as a star/delta motor and can be...

    3 Phase presentation

HiForum Thisall came about as I am looking to use a 3 phase motor with variablefrequency drive/VFD and started to get confused with 3 phasevoltage. MyVFD uses one phase and neutral on the input and presents 3 phases onthe output in Delta (no neutral). At first I though I could simulate400V 3...

    Cable run under floorboards

The inverter manufacturer says the inverter does not need an RCD, but if an RCD is used on the circuit it needs to be 100ma or greater.

    Cable run under floorboards

The inverter manufacturer SMA Sunny boy guidance says do not use an RCD with a tripping current of less than 100ma to prevent false tripping which the NAPIT tester will not accept (he wants a 30ma RCD. The cable is fully visble for all of its run from airing cupboard and along landing. I have...

    Cable run under floorboards

Hi Group Had a third party inspection by a NAPIT tester, to get building control approval for a pv installation. He has failed the cable run in Twin and Earth under my floorboards even though its greater than 50mm from surface. No 30ma RCD fitted to this circuit. I though it was acceptable if...
