thanks for all the responses.
there may well have been leprechauns here at some stage before us or possibly someone disabled as there's all sorts of interesting pull switches from the ceilings all over the place, sockets at odd heights etc.
house is 1910 ish so yeah, maybe it is an add on...
Hi hope you are well.
I'm trying to do the donkey work of channeling etc to add a new socket to a ring main, but i (or rather a spark) would need to break the ring. before i cut a channel i'd appreciate some advice as to if my plan is sensible or not!
problem and possible solution is described...
ok guys, thanks for that.
as far as i can make out, the largest fuse i can get for a consumer unit in the uk is 40 amps anyway - anyone know if thats correct?
(i wouldnt just up rate the fuse without getting a spark to check the cable its on though)
it would mean if i did need to up rate...
thanks for that - but...what if i do use all the induction rings and ovens at once? i quite often use all 6 burners on my gas stove and the oven. the worst that can happen with gas is - well, they all dont work as hot as they should. with electrics, it could start a fire. that worries me...
hi guys, i hope you are well.
got a question - i want to buy a smeg SY92IPX8. im not an electrician.
the manual says that it has a nominal requirement of 16kw (!)
to me thats 66 ish amps. (16000/240) from P=IV
i cant get a circuit breaker for a household consumer unit that big, and the cable...
ok, thanks for that. - does anybody have experience with the kind of savings its possible to make doing this please? another very vague question i know!
best investment you can make. we had ours done in feb, and got the 43p scheme. its still worthwhile at 21p though. of course it depends on your house - roof angle and facing etc. put it this way, my electrictiy / gas bill used to be 2000 per year. its now down to £1100 (estimated). (we have an...
thanks for this.
the pressure here is really good (our shower which is straight off the combi is fab) but i dont know what it actually is.
can you give a ballpark for the cost of parts assuming pressure is above a bar?
just want to know if its worth considering.
hi guys hope you are well.
ive got a 4kw solar system that is doing fantastically well (2300 kw produced since february). ive cut my electricity bill by 75%!! im looking to see what other efficiencies i can get and thought i could get my gas bill reduced as well.
i have a combi boiler...
the water temp is probably 15 degrees, temp of panel cant be much more than 40 - cant see it being a problem, but you are right, it might cause probs.
i was only joking about spraying the inverter by the way (no-one bit! damn!)
hi guys hope you are well. sorry for the delay, its takne time to get things sorted out here.
ok, have had a new inverter - no difference.
now they have out the original inverter back in and instead of having 1 string of 16 panels, i have 2 strings of 8.
the noise is now bearable.
however...
