    RCD for TT system

Hi all, I have just read an old periodic report that has highlighted a TT system that has an RCD main switch mounted in a non insulated enclosure (metal) as a category 2. Does it state anywhere in the reg that the RCD should be in an insulated (plastic) enclosure. I've had a look but cant find...

    maximum Zs

Same here, the ONLY reason i'm still with them is that i do a lot of kitchen work for the John Lewis Partnership and they insist on NIC enrollment. If it wasn't for them i'd be off elsewhere!

    maximum Zs

I totally agree lenny, up to my last visit i have never used 1667 as a maximum value, just letting you know what tis gut said. His name is Warren Clarke. If any one else has come across him on an assessment i would be interested to know what he said to them.

    maximum Zs

Hi Guys, according to the NIC the 1667 value should be entered into the maximum Zs box, not the values in table 41.3. So if your filling in NIC certs i would use 1667 ohms. I got pulled for NOT using 1667 on my last inspection. I;m not saying it's right just sayimg what the NIC want to see in...

    Hi PFC!

If the three phase supplies each have there own BS88 from the distributer wouldn't that already cover it?

    Hi PFC!

Does that mean that if the main switch is rated to 50KA then the MCB's can be rated lower?

    Hi PFC!

Hi guys just wondered what your thoughts are on this. Been out to a city center post office today it used to be a bank but has been recently converted. One of the contractors involved was fitting new chiller units for the shop side but refused to connect into the board because the PFC was higher...

    Underfloor Heating

HI johnnyb, no it shouldn't give false readings. One of the manufactures i use even supply you with the conduit! Just remember to put a couple of pieces of leccy tape over the end to stop any screed or adhesive getting in.

    Underfloor Heating

Stats at socket height are usually because customer or installer doesn't want the wall chopping out! if its on a stud wall you can usually get all cables to that height with out any damage to plaster work.

    Underfloor Heating

No eskimo39 your bang on! The thermostat is usually located about 1.5 meters from finished floor level and is supplied from a switched fused spur which is a means of isolation and fusing the matting down to usually 3A but this does all depend on the size and rating of the matting. The under...

No. What i said was "Table 41.3 only states overcurrent characteristics of RCBOs not earth fault loop impedances as in 41.5." thats table 41.5. Any way i don't understand how the tables on pages 48,49 and are not for TNS & TNC-S systems as well.Taking what raylewis says that the OSG values have...
