Hi, I have been asked to fit a 32a isolator ready for an air con unit and picked one up from screwfix. Unfortunately the one I have is a 4 pole, can this still be used with 6mm t&e or do I need to replace it with a 2 pole. If it can be used do I just use terminals L1 & T2
Thanks
Hi, I have a small consumer unit that provides a supply to two commando sockets outside. I need to add a timer to one of the socket so bought a cheap off the sheaf digital timer ( Greenbrook T80-C ) but struggling to work out how to connect it
Top connections are 1 & 2, bottom being 3 & 4...
Hi,
We are building a new extension which is the opposite side of the property to where the current mains in and fuse box is located ( which are on the opposite side of an external wall ).
The extension will be a new kitchen with an electric oven and hob, utility room with washing machine /...
Fair enough... my mistake... i apologise... i didn't realise this was a forum for just trades people to speak to trades people... i made the mistake of misunderstanding the DIY section as actually asking people for assitance... if i knew i was just going to get advice telling me an electrician...
@Leesparkykent, thanks for the feedback but i'd prefer an answer to my question rather than an "electrician would know how to do it"... i dont need to know what or how the cable works... i just want to remove it... in its entirety.
Hi,
I am removing my room thermostats as i'm going "smart heating" and need to trace the wire from the room stat downstairs back to the heating control in a cupboard upstairs so it can be removed from the circuit.
I'm thinking all i need is a simple tone generator / wire tracer like the ones...
Perfect, thanks @J.C.E that just what i'm looking for.
One other cheeky question, i dont suppose anyone knows where I can get a 25mm deep surface mounted Architrave Pattress back box ?
It would be needed to fit the Euro fuse module.
Hi,
I am trying to find a fused spur that is as small as possible. I'm not sure of the correct wording but it needs to be smaller than a single gang back box.
To explain what i am trying to achieve, i need to cut the plug off a flex that connects to a small transformer for an POE injector. As...
Hi Richard... that is just the type of thing i'm looking for thanks... its a little on the large side as was hoping for something similar in size to these - RVFM 2 and 3-pin 10A Mains Connectors | Rapid Online
But if nothing else pops up i'll think i show them to our electrician. Thanks..
HI,
I am hoping someone on here can help. I am looking for a fused inline mains connector plug... capable of taking a 5 amp fuse / 240 volt feed.
I admit this is an odd request but have asked our electrician and he can't think of anything. If i explain what we are doing.... we fit temporary...
Hi,
I am looking to fit an ip44 16 amp socket ( like the caravan connection type - three pin, round and blue ) to a lamp post we have in the garden so we can connect Christmas lights to it.
I have noticed these are commonly used on street lights in towns for the same reason. Upon closer...
Hi Murdoch,
Thank you for taking the time to reply but I really do not feel it is fait on any tradesman to ask them to come round and give free advice when I can not guarantee they will get the work and I have no requirement for any other electrical work for several months. As I have already...
Hi everybody. Thank you for such quick replies.
Great to see three answers all saying the same thing, looks like a separate CU is the way to go.
Great idea re the duct and draw lines, unfortunately it will have to go round several bends so not sure how well it will work. I think the best way...
Hi,
We are having our kitchen moved into another part of the house which already has electric via an existing ring main. The kitchen will have an gas / electric oven and a small electric water heater for a sink plus a small water pump.
We will be having an electrician do all the...
