Not sure if default worked on first first startup.
1st time round, got the system set up, could see the keypad display in wintex, but it wasnt always in sync and keys in wintex didn't respond.
Keypad did seem to be working correctly, not showing errors in wintex.
After deliberately...
By entering the engineer code and then pressing reset? This was working, but now nothing happens when the engineer code has been entered. Is there another method to perform this reset? The keypad doesn't seem to respond to any keypress now.
Hi,
I have a problem with a premier elite 24 pannel that has just been installed. Its a small system with 1 keypad, 4 zones and a smart com. I don't have a lot of experience with this system, but initial programming seemed to make sense, and I got the smartcom set up and linked to the app and...
As you have identified, the kitchen is where most high current loads are usually located. This means there is a much higher chance of causing overheating and potentially a fire, if you dont get it right. It is even more inportant to make sure all connections are secure and well made, and that...
If you do decide to do a job cheaper because its local/convenient/a big chunk of work etc, dont lower your hourly rate, price at standard rates and then apply a discount at the end. Then people wont expect other jobs to be at the same low rate.
Are you on the ground floor? If not then there is a possibility that the cable that drops down your kitchen wall goes down to a flat below? Although this is less likely, it is a possibility, but it sounds like you have enough there for the BT engineer to get you connected. There is no advantage...
If that is a bt box with a multi coming in then theres phone lines in building. And it looks like the white cables are outgoing lines to the flats. So the BT engineer can use their cable tracer to track it down in your flat, or worst case they will have to run another one from that service...
The second picture you have posted looks like a phone line distrobution block, and that all looks like phone cable coming into it, but as you say that could be for the intercom system. Is there a lid for it on the floor somewhere, perhaps with some markings? Is there a big multicore cable coming...
Looks like one of these:

It could be worth contacting some local electricians, they may be able to implement a safe system of coming in to install something temporary, if nobody in your household is considered to be particulally vunerable.
For instance, if your CU is in the garage, they could install a 16A cee form...
You might get away with it, depending on the quality and condition of the plug and socket, bit I definitely wouldnt recomend it. Any point of high resistance (such as a termination thats not quite tight enough, or dirty pin on thd plug) will start to heat up, which will then cause more damage...
Does the oven definitely need 16a? Do know the power rating of it?
If it is deinitiely over 3kw then you will need a seperate, dedicated 16A circuit installing to feed the oven.
How is the house heated? If there is gas central heating controled by the landlord, could there be a danger of tenants topping it up with electric heaters?
The first port of call should definitely be to calculate max demand for each flat and then check the total for the building doesnt exceed that supply. Then you probably need to replace that T&E with something a bit more suitable. And also add some overcurrent protection on the supply end (unless...
I hadn't though about the main switch. Good point. There is another small DB above, is this fed from the sideways one or split tails?
If there isnt an overal isolator, perhaps one should be installed to give a single point of isolation? That would then be the correct orientation, would that be...
Do manufacturers instructions definitely prohibit this? Only issue that springs to mind is different heat distribution and cooling, but plenty of 3 phase DBs are designed to run in that configuration. As far as I know the MCBs/RCDs will operate in any orientation, would be interested to see any...
Assuming this is fed from another building? So this would be a distribuition circuit giving you Zs or Zdb? Where are you measuring from? If you have checked the SWA gland and banjo and fly lead are all secure (you could pull the shroud away and try and get a measurement from the actual armour)...
If you find the conductors are actually easy to pull through, and the instalation is quite old, it could be worth pulling the old conductors out and pulling in 3 new ones behind them. Might even be less labour than trying to just fish the earth through, or pulling them out and then pulling the...
