Does that not apply to the supply . I am only wiring the unit . I will not be connecting it as it will be going out with an outdoor catering company who I assume will take responsibility for the connection.
been asked to wire a mobile bar. 16 amp commando plug supply onto a small board with rcd30ma. Wire all lights and a few sockets in braided flex. Equipotential bonding on structure. That's about it I think. Who is responsible for the earthing when it's connected to the supply or generator . E.g...
Yes . When I got there two of them had not tripped for 3 or four days. The one that was tripping had a laptop tripping it. And a light in the conservatory was down N/E. on a spur . Got rid of them two and alls good . Not sure what was going on with the others, he may have got confused , but yes...
Thanks to all who have given their advice. I am going on Monday to see what's going on. It's a good starter to strip it down and check each ring as you said. Can I let you know what sorts it . Always nice to hear differing views on faults . It's a learning curve even for the older generation
My first thought. Asked him to remove earths and test ze . Said it was fine. Had a similar problem and the earth had gone but it was coming in through the water pipe
My mates asked me to go and help find some faults at a house. Rcd tripping so he put 3 socket rings on 3 separate rcbos. Now he says they are all tripping at different times. . Says he's tested ir and it's about 6 meg on one ring. If they are separate why would they trip. . Good Ze in board ...
Exactly. But who is going to find a fault that until I arrived , no one knew existed , and will they let me turn off all the sockets in the house, or pay me to put right something that never existed until I turned up, on a never ending goose chase around the house
That's fine but if you put all the sockets in the house on a 20 amp breaker then it's asking for trouble. Thanks for replying without a small amount of sarcasm
I have just come across a domestic installation that has two consumer units I was asked to wire extra sockets and do a board change as well. I found that the sockets of one board circuit are interconnected to a circuit from the other board, thus back feeding each other. This means that unless...
I have a 3 core t+e on a 2 way switch and when it is turned off there is still 45 volts at the light. I have stripped this down to a 1 way switch and the voltage disappears. I then meggered the 3 core and it is clear. There is continuity through the conductors and no obvious fault with the...
did the same test at home and the meter was set to the same parameters and it worked fine. is the rcd working at very low current or am i missing something
did a tes on rcd to get the tripping times, put metrel meter on auto and it tripped the rcd but no times came up on the meter. polarity is correct and Ze is good . all terminations are good . Is it a faulty rcd even though it trips.?
